How does IKEA buy back work?

Use the pricing tool to get a preliminary quote for your used IKEA furniture. Take them to the nearest IKEA store within 30 days. We evaluate the furniture and confirm the final buy-back value. You will receive an IKEA voucher with the amount we buy back the furniture for. The voucher is valid for 3 years.

1. Get a preliminary price quote

Use the Pricing Tool to see how much you can get for your used IKEA furniture.
Select the condition that describes your furniture and you will get a price quote for its value.
For every price quote you get, you can sell back up to 9 pieces of furniture.

2. Get your price quote

You will receive an email from us with your quote and a quote number to reserve your quote.

3. Prepare the furniture

To ensure a smooth buyback experience, the furniture must:

Be clean
Clean it gently to remove dust, dirt, or stains. A clean piece of furniture helps us assess its condition more easily.
Fully assembled
This helps us ensure that all parts are in place, and that the furniture is in good condition, during the final assessment at the warehouse.
Has the original IKEA sticker
We can only accept furniture with the original IKEA stickers. You can usually find it under the product - under a tabletop, inside a drawer or under a lampshade. Can't find the sticker? Take the furniture to the store anyway, our employees will help you look for it.

If the sticker is missing, we may not be able to accept the furniture for repurchase.

4. Bring them back to us

Bring your quote number, and the assembled furniture to the exchange and returns department at the store within 30 days of receiving the quote.
IKEA buy back is available at all IKEA stores, except our planning and ordering points, and at IKEA at Karl Johan.

5. Assessment and final offer

In the exchange and return area, we examine the condition of the furniture and give you a final price. This may differ from the original price quote.

Approved furniture should be:

in good, resaleable condition
Listed as eligible
complete and fully usable
properly assembled when returned
clean and unmodified

The final price is fixed and non-negotiable. We evaluate each piece of furniture individually and may reject furniture that does not meet our requirements.
If we do not buy back your furniture, we are happy to help you recycle it.

6. Receive your IKEA voucher

You get a voucher that you can use at IKEA.no or in the store at any time. It cannot be used in our bistros, restaurant or grocery store (IKEA Food). The voucher is valid for 3 years.

7. Give your furniture a new life

All furniture in good condition is sold on in the Recycling Shop at a reduced price.
