Fair and equal
Our objective is to contribute to a fair and equal society through respecting and promoting human rights, improving decent and meaningful work, and striving towards diversity and inclusion across the IKEA value chain. We aim to do this through identifying, addressing and remediating human rights risks and impacts across the value chain, strengthening decent work and labour rights, and integrating equality, diversity, and inclusion across the value chain. Check out a few highlights from the past year!

Developing a methodology for assessing human rights impacts
We developed the Inter IKEA Group Human Rights Impact Assessment (HRIA) principles and methodology, adding a tool to our human rights due diligence toolbox. We piloted the tool in three different sectors and geographies, with specific attention paid to risks regarding child labour, workers’ health and safety, and migrant workers. Going forward, we are planning to roll out the HRIA tool in other areas of specific interest.
Furthering our Responsible Wage Practices framework
In FY25 we continued our journey to integrate our Responsible Wage Practices (RWP) framework, by conducting a pilot in our supply chain. The framework has been developed for the full IKEA value chain and takes a holistic view on how IKEA businesses and partners handle wage practices, putting equal focus on five closely connected areas/practices: equality at work, pay principles, competence, dialogue and living wage.

Broadening the reach of social entrepreneurs
IKEA Social Entrepreneurship broadened its reach through programmes and direct support by providing 120 social entrepreneurs across 21 countries with capacity building, financial support, and mentorship from dedicated IKEA co-workers. Additionally, in collaboration with 9 social business partners, 18 handmade products in the global MÄVINN collection are available in IKEA stores worldwide, creating jobs for nearly 12,000 people.
Designing inclusively
We launched the BÄSINGEN collection, that uses inclusive design for people who need more support and stability in the bathroom and the rest of the home. These products support the sometimes sudden, tangible changes we face at home which can make something as simple as taking a shower, challenging.

Supporting life at work – and at home
Through our partnership with UNICEF, we contributed to the development of a Toolkit to help businesses develop family-friendly practices that support families and children to thrive, and help companies unlock their employees’ full potential, while contributing to healthier societies and stronger economies. We will now focus on increasing awareness of the toolkit, with a focus on engaging with IKEA franchisees in support of greater uptake of family-friendly policies and practices.
