Circularity
Our objective is to transition towards a circular business by prolonging the lifespan of IKEA products and materials through circular design principles and offering products and services making reuse, repair refurbishing and recycling possible. We do this through product design, decoupling virgin, non-renewable material use from IKEA business growth, increasing the share of recycled and renewable content in IKEA products, and designing and implementing circular services. Check out a few highlights from the past year!

Developing a mattress using circular design principles
Supporting our focus on designing products to be reused, repaired, refurbished and recycled from the very beginning, we developed VÅLFJÄLLET, a mattress with separable parts allowing for easy washing and recycling.
Introducing DVÄRGSTUBB glasses
Aligned with our aim to increase the share of recycled and renewable content, we launched DVÄRGSTUBB, a glass product made with minimum 50% recycled glass.

Increasing circular services
The largest IKEA retailer (Ingka Group) operating in 31 markets, has continued their Buy Back service in 76% of their customer meeting points and processed 686,500 used IKEA products via the service in FY25, an increase from 495,000 in FY24.
As a result of testing of this service in Ingka, Inter IKEA Group has now integrated Buy Back service into the IKEA franchise concept, meaning all franchisees now have access to a blueprint on how to integrate this circular service into their units.
Finding new homes for secondhand products
A peer-to-peer second-hand marketplace enabling customers to buy and sell used IKEA products directly with each other, was launched in three markets operated by Ingka Group: Norway, Portugal and Spain. By finding new homes for IKEA furniture, we hope to encourage people to reduce waste and prolong the life of our products.
