In your colour era. Surround yourself with colours that have a positive effect on your body and mind. Take a meditative break to focus on yourself by turning on the hue that gets you in the right mood for the day.

How to do chromotherapy at home

​Colour therapy is based on the idea that colour and coloured lights can help treat physical and mental health issues. Coloured lights can affect our bodies, our pain levels, and our moods. Meditation with coloured light can improve your mental well-being. Each colour has a different effect, and by using light of different colours we can stimulate new emotions.

Set up a calm, dark and comfortable place for five minutes of meditation. Light a JÄMLIK vanilla scented candle and have your VAPPEBY speaker and IKEA 365+ water bottle nearby – hydration is always a must. Change the light’s colours following the waves of the sunrise to sunset, trying to live in rhythm with nature.

 

  • Morning: Feel grounded. Double inhale through the nose, and a single slow exhale through the mouth. Choose pink, purple or blue and uplifting music.
  • Afternoon: Body scan. Quick exhale through the nose, pumping tummy muscles and inhale through the nose. White, off-white and yellow light with happy soul-nourishing music.
  • Evening: Feel gratitude. Inhale through the nose in three seconds, then exhale for six seconds. Allow for a three-second pause. Set red, orange or yellow and combine with binaural beats for relaxation.

Escape into the calmness of colours and scents

It doesn’t take our senses too much effort to find an escape. The colours and scents of the room can help you find your peace and calm when you need them. Play with different colours and scents to find the combination that works for you, then let yourself be immersed in the mood.

Comfort and hydration – essentials for a healthier “me-time”

Before setting aside time to disconnect from daily routines and worries, make sure to get the essentials in place. Stay hydrated by having an IKEA 365+ water bottle at hand at all times. Set your bed with comfy cushions and bed linen. Once you lie down, enjoy the relaxing setup you've created.
