Smart blinds - help & tips

You can control the blinds with the included remote control or with the free IKEA Home smart app (DIRIGERA Hub required).

You can also control multiple blinds with a single remote control (once it has been paired with the blinds) or the IKEA Home smart app.

With remote control

If the roller blind is used individually, it is immediately ready for use. If you want to use several roller blinds, you must first pair them together.

If you are using a single roller blind that has already been paired, plug the signal amplifier into the socket, insert the battery into the remote control and then install the roller blind.

We recommend pairing the roller blinds first before mounting them on the wall or ceiling. The best way to do this is to place the blinds on a table.

A BRAUNIT battery pack is included with the roller blind. This battery pack is pre-charged and ready for immediate use.

With the IKEA Home smart app

To do this, plug the signal amplifier into the socket, insert the battery into the remote control, connect the roller blind to the TRÅDFRI Gateway, download the free IKEA Home smart app and install the roller blind.

If you want to control several blinds at the same time, we recommend that you first set up/pair the blinds before mounting them on the wall or ceiling. The best way to do this is to place the roller blinds on a table.

No, but our smart blinds are available in different sizes. 

You can control the smart blinds with a remote control, for example. A single remote control can control up to 10 blinds if it is linked to several roller blinds.

The remote control can operate the blinds from a distance of up to 10 meters.

Yes, the wall bracket for the remote control can be attached to the wall using the self-adhesive pads. Alternatively, you can attach the wall bracket to the wall with screws.

Move each blind to the desired position using the remote control or the buttons on the blind. Then press the up and down buttons on the blind twice to save this position as the new maximum lowered length.

You will need the DIRIGERA Hub, which is available separately.

You can download the free IKEA Home smart app from Google Play or the Apple App Store, depending on which cell phone you use.

With the preset functions in the free IKEA Home smart app, the same settings can be created from one day to the next. 

Using the TRÅDFRI gateway and the free IKEA Home smart app, the blinds can be controlled from anywhere as long as the gateway and app are in the same Wi-Fi network. Some app/HomeKit suppliers also offer control from outside the Wi-Fi network.

Each blind is already paired. This means that you do not need to pair them to control a single blind with the remote control.

Yes, follow the steps below to connect additional blinds:

1. First open the back of the remote control and locate the assignment button.
2. Briefly press both buttons on the blind. The device is now activated for pairing for 2 minutes.
3. Hold the remote control very close to the blind you want to add (no more than 5 cm from the battery compartment of the blind).
4. Press and hold the pairing button on the remote control for at least 20 seconds.
5. A red light lights up on the remote control. A white light flashes slowly on the blind until the devices are successfully paired. When pairing is complete, the roller blind will slowly roll up and down. You can now use the remote control to control the blind.

You can pair up to 10 blinds. Please note that if you have paired more than one blind, they will move up and down at slightly different speeds. However, this is normal.

Yes, the DIRIGERA Hub can be used to control network-compatible IKEA products via the IKEA Home smart app or voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri or Google Assistant.

Yes, using the IKEA Home smart app.

The blind's battery pack is already charged at the factory. If it needs to be charged, it takes approx. 4-5 hours to charge it with the IKEA charger. 

If the blind is raised and lowered on average once a day, a fully charged battery will last 4 to 6 months before it needs to be recharged.As with any battery, the charging capacity will gradually decrease over time.

KADRILJ or FYRTUR can be carefully lowered by hand. If you want to pull the blind up, you should charge the battery pack for a short time to be able to control the blind.

If you want to lower or raise PRAKTLYSING or TREDANSEN blinds, you should charge the battery pack for a short time to be able to control the blind.

 We recommend that you do not fully discharge the battery pack or the remote control battery so as not to lose the connection to the remote control.

The white LED signal on the blind flashes while you are controlling it.

Press both buttons on the blind simultaneously for longer than 5 seconds. 

Press the assignment button on the remote control 4 times.

With remote control

The signal amplifier is a necessary product for controlling the roller blind. This would not work without an amplifier. The signal amplifier enables the roller blind and remote control to communicate better.

With the IKEA Home smart app

The signal amplifier improves connectivity, the blinds and remote control can communicate better with each other.

It is also necessary if you want to control your smart roller blind via the app. In this case, you should add a DIRIGERA hub (sold separately) and download the free IKEA Home smart app to your cell phone (available for iOS or Android).
