Are any IKEA products excluded from returns?

Find out which IKEA products you can return, which have special return conditions and which products are excluded from returns. Products excluded from returns are mattresses (these can only be returned within the 90-day trial period) and electronic devices that are not in their original packaging.

Yes. Some products are partially or fully excluded from returns.
Here’s an overview so you can quickly see which items you can return and which conditions apply.

Products you can return with restrictions

If you want to return live plants, made-to-measure products, products from the Second Life Shop, food or moderately used items, the product value will be refunded in the form of an IKEA refund card.

Products excluded from returns

Mattresses – can only be returned as part of the 90-day mattress trial.
Electrical appliances not in their original packaging – cannot be returned for safety reasons.
Incomplete, damaged or modified products – cannot be returned.

Products from the Second Life Shop excluded from regular returns

The following products are excluded:
  • electrical appliances
  • mattresses
  • Second Life Buyback Service items purchased from the Second Life Shop can only be returned through the regular buyback process. You can find the full conditions on the Second Life Buyback Service page.

Further information

  • Returns and complaints are only possible with proof of purchase, such as a receipt, order number or IKEA Family card.
  • When returning an item, we will refund the amount to the original payment method or, if you prefer, issue an IKEA refund card.
  • Modified, altered or incomplete products are also excluded from returns.
