Which desk chair is right for me?
Whether in the office, at home or in a shared flat. You often spend a lot of time in front of the computer. This makes it all the more important to have a comfortable desk chair that helps you to maintain an ergonomic sitting posture. This prevents neck or back pain, and a cosy office chair makes it easier to get your work done. We'll show you how to find the perfect desk chair for you here.
Office chairs with castors or without?
Swivel chairs can be found in many offices and many people also opt for the castor version at home. After all, they are practical to move around and are easy to manoeuvre even when seated. But an office chair without castors also has its advantages. For example, if your floor is a little uneven or your workstation is on a plateau.
Desk chair with armrests?
If you spend several hours a day in your desk chair, armrests are a simple addition for more comfort. It is important that they are attached at the right height. They should support your arms so that your elbows rest naturally and your shoulders can relax optimally. Do you prefer a lighter look? Then skip the armrests and choose one of our small, narrow office chairs. Not only do they look sleeker without armrests, they are also easier to slide under the desk.
Perfectly set up office chair - how to adjust it ergonomically
Once you have decided on a desk chair, you can adjust it perfectly for an upright sitting posture and therefore maximum comfort. Here you can find out the most important tricks and tips in a simple step-by-step guide.
- Adjusting the sitting position of the office chair: For a healthy sitting posture, your back should be as close to the backrest as possible - especially the lower part. This automatically makes you sit more upright. The edge of the office chair and your knees should be about three finger widths apart.
- Adjust the height after the sitting position comes the height: the armrests should be at the same height as the desk surface. Doesn't your office chair have armrests? Then simply use your arms as a guide. When you rest your forearms and elbows on the desk, your arms should rest at a comfortable angle.
- Finally, adjust the backrest: We all tend to slump after a while. But the following still applies: stay straight and upright. For a more relaxed posture, you can recline the backrest of your desk chair slightly. Never forget to stand up from time to time. A little movement in between can work wonders! And try to work standing up as well. This works particularly well with our BEKANT desks, which you can simply raise.
