Turn back the clock

The third drop of the Nytillverkad collection of IKEA classics revisited is here! From Sven Fristedt's groovy prints to Karin Mobring's tubular table, the collection celebrates 80 years of well designed, functional products at a low price. Take a peek as we revisit favourites from as far back as the 1950s, right up to the 1990s.

1968

MYRTEN 
Textile

The psychedelic sixties was all about intense, free-flowing patterns, and they didn’t come much freer than Sven Fristedt’s MYRTEN print.

STRECKFLY 
Textile

The monochrome colours may be more restrained, but this 21st century update on Sven’s iconic sixties print, is just as groovy now as it was back in its heyday.

1967

MILA 
Swivel armchair

According to IKEA folklore, inspiration for the low, slightly reclined seat of Gillis Lundgren’s MILA chair came from low-riding cars of the era. Maybe that’s the reason for its huge success when it launched?

DYVLINGE 
Swivel armchair

MILA takes another tour around the block as DYVLINGE. It’s undergone some safety and sustainabilty upgrades, including an extra leg to avoid accidents.

CROMI 
Table

The CROMI table, designed by Karin Mobring, was inspired by the early 20th century Bauhaus art movement. With its rounded chrome-plated frame and treated ash surfaces it was a future modern classic in the making.

BAGGBODA 
Table

Making a stylish return more than half a century later, the renamed BAGGBODA table makes its comeback with a refresh in white and yummy lemony yellow.

OPTIMUM 
Vase

IKEA designer Ehlén Johansson has always had a flare for designing products that combine style with simplicity. Who else would have thought of adding a neck to a round vase for long stems? Genius.

SKOGSTUNDRA 
Vase

Not every designer gets to rework an old design, so when Ehlén was given the chance to revisit and improve an old favourite from her back catalogue, it was a special treat.

PUCK 
Armchair

1969: astronauts took their first steps on the moon and space was a big thing. With its super-wide, low seat and generous backrest, Gillis Lundgren’s PUCK chair defined another kind of space – the personal kind.

Armchair

Just as spacious now as it was over 50 years ago, Gillis Lundgren’s much-loved armchair comes back into orbit as part of the Nytillverkad universe.

EPOK 
Rug

EPOK was just one of the range of exotic, imported rugs in the IKEA catalogue. WIth a competitive price tag and a 30-day money back guarantee, no wonder it was popular.

BULLERREMSA 
Rug

Bringing cosy back, second time around this rug amps up the colour, and the pile. Fun fact: Translated into English, bullerremsa means 'noise strip'. Quite ironic considering rugs are great for reducing noise.

ALFI 
Textile

According to tradition “blue and green should never be seen”, but Sven Fristedt’s forest green and navy print combo could be seen in many homes in the 1970s.

This time, with lime: updated in upbeat, verdant shades, this latest version of Sven’s 70s classic is truly evergreen.
