In Älmhult, we have always charted our own path, and now we are crafting a new annual tradition unlike any other. Nyfikshult brings together co-workers, our local community, designers, and creatives - anyone curious to get inspired and learn more about topics, such as design, creativity, play, craftmanship, and innovation. It's a two-day celebration of past and present and a tribute to our curiosity.

Highlights from 4-5 June 2024

Play talk 

Are we at a dawning of a play revolution? The release of our 4th Play Report will provide some answers, and our panel hopefully some more. Because we live in turbulent times and children are more worried and stressed about grown-up things than they were just a few years ago. But there is an antidote – play. 

For the second part of the talk, the real experts enter the scene, when our panel of children share what play means to them. 

We have a distinguished lineup of speakers including Vidur Chopra, researcher on education in conflict with, amongst others, UNICEF; Anne Flemmert Jensen, founder of Future Minds, an organisation for change in education; and Helen Dodd, Professor of Child Psychology. They will be joined by our internal experts Maria Törn, Range Area Manager, Children´s IKEA, and Linus Karlsson Chief Creative Officer, Inter IKEA. 

Creativity Talk 

Is creativity becoming extinct? Our panel of professional creatives discuss topics such as: Is the lack of time and space to play threatening creativity? Are we raising performance monsters? How do we continue being playful as adults? How do we make space for creativity and play in a performance and data-driven society? 

We have a stellar panel of speakers, including the founding partner of Saatchi and Saatchi, Sir John Hegarty; founder of Scandinavia's first rental-only, non-sale, couture brand, Louise Xin; iconic Swedish designer Jesper Kouthoofd from Teenage Engineering; and award-winning Film Director Nim Kyong Ran. All this will be moderated by one of Sweden's leading journalists of popular culture, Jan Gradvall.
