A toddler room for sleep and play

Combining happy colours, fun early learning details and plenty of creative play possibilities, this toddler room for two is more than a space for sweet dreams.

Storage that's anything but boring

The great thing about toddlers is that even the most mundane chores can be fun. Take tidying for example. The cute UPPSTÅ storage bag is lightweight, easy to carry and makes a great target for a game of toy tossing when it's time to pack up.

When planning storage, mix up high solutions for parental access only with low-level storage that is functional, safe, and easy for the kids to reach. The TROFAST storage combination has tray like drawers that are easy to pull out, even for small children. With cars and trains in one box and lego in another, they are great for sorting and even better for tidying up!

Inside, outside, below and on top

Toddler outfits may be small, but they grow so fast, and so does their wardrobe! Extra space below hanging clothes is ideal for trousers and jumpers, while drawers are ideal for pyjamas and underwear. But wait, there's even more space on top – perfect for cosy throws and blankets.

It's the details that count. Knobs and handles can change the look of wardrobes and cupboards. These big, bold BEGRIPA handles are an eye-catching way to get kids into organising and they make opening the doors easier for little hands. They come in a range of fun colours and are easy to swap out –  great for when they inevitably decide on a new favourite colour.

Bedtime stories

A handy bookshelf above the bed (or cot) makes it easy to grab a favourite book when it's time for a story. It also makes a great lookout spot for bedtime companions during the day.

The cosy, cloud-shaped UPPLYST LED wall lamp is ideal for a spot of bedtime reading. It also adds a cute decorative touch.

Two's company

Same space, two different looks. With room for two, choosing different colours and bedlinen for each bed allows you to create sleep areas that are individual and fun.

Convertible cots are ideal for the early years. The GULLIVER cot can be placed at two different heights and one side can be removed, so it grows with little ones until it's time for a "big kid" bed.

Creativity central

Painting, drawing and creative play is a great way to keep kids occupied, as well developing their learning skills and imagination. A small table and chairs makes the perfect creative hub for busy hands and minds.

The FLISAT children's table is both a practical place for arts and crafts and a useful storage solution. TROFAST storage boxes can be fitted underneath and accessed from two handy removeable lids on the table top, making it easy to take out or put away paints and crayons.

Plenty of room for two

Sharing a room can be fun for kids and builds a sense of security, but a little me-space and time out from time-to-time is equally important. Creating a space that caters to all the needs of small children can be difficult, especially when you have twins! So how do you create a fun, safe space that’s good for play, ensures good sleep and caters to the storage needs of a family with young children?

In this colourful shared room of two toddlers, pedagogical details and flexible furniture provide a place for play, exploration and sleep. Cots are placed on opposite sides of the room, allowing plenty of space for their individual style and needs, as well as allowing them to fall asleep and wake up at different times without disturbing each other.

Simple illustrations on walls and textiles liven up the Scandinavian inspired colour scheme of white walls and natural light woods. A colourful rug in the centre creates a colourful focal point and also dampens sound when noise and energy levels run high. Finally, functional areas like high up storage on the walls for the parents and lower cabinets for the kids create plenty of space for rest and play.

Create small zones in the room that have a clear function and purpose such as sleep, play and storing clothes. This can be done with rugs on the floor, as well as different lighting and storage.
