Bathroom clutter that's out of sight

The bathroom: a haven of calm, a space for serenity. But as the room where we start and end our days, mornings can get pretty busy, which is why good storage is key. As a depository for bottles and beauty products that mount up over time, it's easy for counters to become cluttered and cupboards to overflow. With a bit of organisation and a few handy storage tricks, you can create a sanctuary of wellbeing, free of chaos and clutter.

Hide it behind the mirror

Some things are better kept out of reach – and out of sight. Mirrors are a must in any bathroom, so why not put them to work? Mirrored bathroom cabinets are a handy way to keep personal products, such as medicines and grooming essentials out of sight, close to hand and even better, they don't take up extra space.

Keep towels and soap within reach

Keep towels, scrubbers and bathtime must-haves close to the action. If you're lucky enough to have extra space, trolleys, cupboards, even under benches can be great places to store clean towels and face cloths.

Colour coordinate

Storage needn't be boring. Colourful shelves, containers and bottles in matching tones or colourful contrasts are not only practical, they can really change up a bathroom. And the great thing is, they're easy to change out when it's time for a makeover. Win win.

Take to the benches

Stools, steps and benches are handy for bathtime chats. They're also perfect for stashing away loo rolls, bathtime toys and even magazines.

A place for robes

Hooks are handy for hanging bathrobes. A hook for each family member and maybe a spare for guest towels or robes is a good way to ensure everyone knows which is theirs.

Keep cosmetics on the low

Around and under the basin area are ideal spots for cosmetics and beauty products, especially when every centimeter counts (under basin storage is also a good way to hide unsightly plumbing). Transform vanity units into a well-kept makeup station with just a few dividers and containers. Stackable containers are great for small items such as cleansing pads and nail files, while pots are perfect for organising brushes.
