Get ready to level up your gaming experience this October with YXSTABY, our upcoming collection born from a collaboration with XBOX! This partnership combines IKEA's expertise in home furnishing solutions with XBOX’s cutting-edge gaming technology to create products that are not only functional and ergonomic but also tailor-made for immersive gaming.

Game changer

The designers from both teams embarked on a series of "firsts," blending their unique skills and perspectives to create something exceptional. Together, they explored how to make the most of their combined expertise, which has resulted in this collection, where comfort meets creativity, and form seamlessly balances with function, all wrapped in thoughtfully playful design.

A collection for all

The products in the YXSTABY collection range from a sleek TV stand on castors and a light lounge chair to a display box with mirrors that makes the most of your favourite small objects. Even though all items were designed with gaming in mind, they work just as great when your game is powered down.

A lot of time was spent on the details: finding the perfect materials, optimal proportions, the right colours. This collection widens the traditional view of what a gaming setup is to what it can be. No need to put things away when done playing – each item blends seamlessly and adds to the feeling of home.

"When the first XBOX console was introduced in Sweden 25 years ago, my friend and I went to the launch event. I entered a gaming competition – and won an XBOX. So this was a dream project for me. Not only because of my history as a gamer, but because I believe that XBOX stands for iconic design."

    It's a thumbstick stool

    How do you turn an iconic thumbstick into furniture? Designers David Wahl (IKEA) and Elliot Hsu (XBOX) collaborated closely, blending design and engineering, focusing on details like texture.

    Lock in and lounge out

    A gaming lounge chair that moves with you and is easy to reposition? Created by Lukas Bazle (IKEA) and Ryan Whitaker (XBOX), it’s perfect for leaning back, forward, and storing your controller in its handy pocket. Ideal for flexible gaming setups!

    It's a setup on a roll

    While gaming on the sofa, IKEA designer Lukas Bazle realised he needed better screen visibility. Partnering with Carl Ledbetter (XBOX), they created a flexible TV stand on castors, with shelves for gaming essentials and smart cable management to adapt to every gamer’s needs.

    It's a D-pad, only dishier

    The XBOX controller inspired the thumbstick stool, D-pad cushion, and YXSTABY platter. Designers David Wahl (IKEA) and Ryan Whitaker (XBOX) perfected the design through material experiments, ultimately choosing stainless steel for its light-reflecting facets that enhance the shape.

    Charge up

    The YXSTABY side table helps declutter by hiding cords and charging small devices like controllers. As a dedicated charging station, it’s a stylish and practical addition to any living space, whether you're into gaming or not!

    The X-factor

    Inspired by the XBOX controller's D-pad, IKEA's Darja Nordberg and David Wahl created a huggable, colourful cushion. After testing versions, colours, and textures, they landed on a soft X design that looks great anywhere. Simple, stylish, and fun!

    Get hooked

    How do people want to organise their gaming spaces? This question guided IKEA designer Max Hausmann and Ryan Whitaker (XBOX) to create an ergonomic monitor stand with space for monitors, storage underneath, and hooks for headphones and controllers, blending seamlessly into any setup.

    It's a keeper

    Of keyboards and more! IKEA designer Max Hausmann noticed many play on laptops in their living rooms. Teaming up with Elliot Hsu (XBOX), they created the YXSTABY gaming laptop support: a portable, ergonomic toolbox with storage for essentials, letting you go wherever the game takes you.

"At XBOX, we talk a lot about how people want to feel immersed in the game when they play, and the hardware helps make that happen. But to make the immersive experience truly come alive, the whole space matters. That's something we could only achieve together with IKEA."
