IKEA x Teklan collaboration
Teklan turns up the colour on light and sound
In a seriously colourful collaboration with the designer and celebrated colourist Tekla Evelina Severin, the new Teklan line of high-quality sound and light products brings lamps and speakers out of the shadows and into the limelight.

Sound, light and colour all have the power to transform a simple space into something warm, welcoming and well, home. When all three are combined, something truly magical happens. At IKEA, we’ve spent many years learning how to bring technology into the home in a way that feels natural, such as by incorporating light with sound, but something was missing. With Teklan, we’ve mixed in the power of colour.
The result is the Teklan line of speakers, lamps, speaker lamps and cables, developed in collaboration with multi-disciplinary colourist Tekla Evelina Severin or ‘Teklan’. Known for her distinctive colour language and use of geometric forms to create unique, eye-catching patterns, Teklan worked her colourful, creative magic, transforming home electronics from out-of-sight to in-the-spotlight statement pieces for the home.
Combining Teklan's creative approach with IKEA design knowledge and high-quality sound, the line includes vibrant reinterpretations of SOLSKYDD Bluetooth speakers, the VAPPEBY portable speaker and FADO table lamp.
Even unsung heroes such as remote controls and charging cables get the same love as the rest of the home.
“Working with IKEA feels exciting because this project explores a completely new area for me. I need to consider technical aspects — like how colour works with cables and other details. It’s about showing that things often seen as dull don’t have to remain that way; colour can make them interesting and inspiring.”

Sound
You may not sit around looking at your speakers, but that could be about to change. Teklan’s eye-catching interpretation of the SOLSKYDD family of speakers, in three sizes and designs: plain, stripes and patterned, look as good as they sound. Tested in the echo chamber of Stockholm's iconic music studio, Atlantis, our speakers are fine-tuned for optimal sound quality. And if that’s not enough, Bluetooth technology allows them to connect with other compatible IKEA Bluetooth speakers so you can move around the home without missing a beat!
Light
Bringing illumination into the equation, the KULGLASS Bluetooth speaker lamp brings light, sound and colour together in one. With its swirly, soft-serve ice cream-inspired shade, fun tone-on-tone colour combo and great sound to boot, whether you’re winding down, or revving up for a party, this lamp is up for anything.
If you’re looking for something a little lower tech, the FADO lamp doesn’t boast sound or extra buttons, just a beautiful soft, round silhouette, a warm glow – and spots. In a break from the bold geometric patterns of the speakers and cables, the subtle coloured pattern of FADO is created by skilled craftspeople, as each shade is mouth blown.
Colour and pattern
“Colour is such an emotional and powerful tool — it can completely change how we see an object and shape the atmosphere of a room. We wanted to bring that softness and friendliness into technology, to help people see home electronics differently and invite more colour into their everyday spaces.”
