This series of shelving units might seem simple and straightforward – but beneath the surface is a wealth of built-in smartness, explains former IKEA product developer, Börje Lindgren.
Hej, Börje!
The series we call KALLAX today has actually been around at IKEA for many years in different forms... a little like Börje, who was an IKEA co-worker for more than 40 years! As a product developer, he worked with KALLAX to incorporate elements from its predecessor EXPEDIT, while updating the design and production methods to make it more durable, sustainable and affordable for the many.
