Sofia Snygg works at IKEA as a product developer for living and artificial plants and flowers. Having begun her career as a florist, she brings her botanical knowledge and love of flowers into the office with her every day. Along with her team, Sofia noticed a gap in the artificial flower range – paper flowers! So began the work to create something beautiful and affordable that would win the hearts of design-lovers and a younger market. GULDSPETT burst to life!
One of the first things you might notice about GULDSPETT flowers are their delicacy. The texture of the petals, paired with their intricate stamens and elegant stems, mean they are beautiful alone or with others. “When I look at how the SMYCKA series of artificial flowers is typically used, I see people putting them together in a vase or bouquet – something rather big,” says Sofia. “GULDSPETT flowers are a bit more delicate. You can foresee instead that you might want to have only one or two flowers in a vase. By broadening our artificial flower offering, we expect to see our customers using them differently too, and that is exciting!"
“When you look at the details on flowers and leaves in nature, it’s totally amazing. The colours, the vibrancy, the shapes. We had great fun finding ways to replicate those intricacies as closely as possible.”
