Renewable electricity for IKEA suppliers
Striving towards 100% renewable energy across the value chain is an important part of our transition towards a circular business built on clean, renewable energy and regenerative resources.
In 2021, we launched a programme to enable all supply partners to consume 100% renewable electricity. Initially the programme was introduced for our direct suppliers in Poland, China and India. In 2023, due to good progress, we introduced the programme in ten additional markets to support suppliers in the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, Türkiye, and Vietnam.
IKEA provides local solutions for buying renewable electricity from the grid,
such as bundled frame agreements or Power Purchase Agreements, which IKEA
supply partners can take part of.
Various solutions to achieve 100% renewable electricity consumption:
- Renewable electricity generated off-site: These are local solutions to buy renewable electricity from the grid. (Energy Attribute Certificates & Power Purchase Agreement).
- Renewable electricity generated on-site: These are local solutions to generate renewable electricity on-site. They include Frame agreement for PV panel installations and Financing options for investments in on-site generation
