IKEA Sustainability Report FY22
The past financial year has seen IKEA navigate numerous challenges on the journey towards 2030 commitments. Nonetheless, in these times, it is more important than ever to stay committed to our sustainability strategy – it’s critical for our business and an important part of fulfilling our vision.
This latest annual edition of the IKEA Sustainability Report summarises our performance compared to the IKEA sustainability strategy, People & Planet Positive, during FY22. It covers the entire IKEA value chain and franchise system and provides an update on activities and the ongoing work to measure progress.
The total IKEA climate footprint in FY22 is estimated to be 25.8 million tonnes of CO2 eq – a decrease of 5% compared to FY21 and 12% compared to our FY16 baseline. The reduced climate footprint is mainly due to a strong development in renewable electricity and improved efficiency of products used at home, and partly due to slightly lower production volumes between FY21-22.
The reporting period follows the financial year 2022, which runs from 1 September 2021 to 31 August 2022. Percentages in this report may not total 100% due to rounding differences.
