IKEA Play Report 2017
Over the years, IKEA has conducted some of the world’s largest research studies on child development and play. In 2017, IKEA continued to explore the topic by researching the importance of play for adults as well as children. This year’s play research identifies five key motivators of why we play – and the mental and emotional benefits inherent in them.
The IKEA Play Report 2017 is our third Play Report to date. The scope of our research has been broader than before, exploring the importance of play for adults as well as children. We’ve employed a qualitative approach – surveying 300+ individuals, ages 2-90 across China, Germany and the US – to explore the emotional aspects of playing in different contexts, the key drivers and inhibitors of play and emerging trends affecting the future of play.
