The Future of Urban Mobility report
As more and more of the global population becomes urbanised, cities around the world are increasingly challenged by the limitations of space, as well as the additional pressures placed on infrastructure and the natural environment.
The Future of Urban Mobility report was created as part of a forward-looking exploration of urban mobility, led by the IKEA Innovation & Development team. The report investigates eight essential urban mobility concepts and the drivers of change in how the movement of people, goods and retailing could shift in the coming years within urban areas.
It is the result of close collaboration with a group of 12 passionate experts who came together in the IKEA Future of Urban Mobility Advisory Community (IFMAC).
Understanding the change in urban mobility is important to IKEA, with stores in or close to hundreds of cities, serving a significant proportion of city-dwelling customers. But this is also a topic important to society at large: for the many people living in cities, working in cities, travelling to cities or simply passing through.
By sharing the insights we’ve gained through the creation of this report, we hope to help build the collective understanding of the extraordinary transformation that we’re all a part of.
