Meeting new customers!
IKEA continues expanding in existing markets with focus on speed and low cost, bringing IKEA closer to the many people through an omnichannel network of physical and digital customer meeting points.
One highlight this year was the retail expansion to New Zealand, a new IKEA market. Preparations are currently ongoing for opening IKEA in two more markets in the Americas: Panama and Costa Rica.
At 31 August 2026, Inter IKEA Group and the groups of franchisees combined, operated more than 780 conceptualised IKEA retail sales locations in 64 markets. This includes large stores, small stores, and plan and order points.
Inter IKEA Group will keep its focus on improving affordability and value for money for customers. Product demand from IKEA franchisees was slightly lower this year due to challenging market conditions, while costs for transportation and raw material increased. Despite these challenging conditions, Inter IKEA Group - together with franchisees – recently contributed to lower prices for IKEA customers in Europe, who will benefit from price reductions of up to 25% on a wide range of selected products.
217,000 IKEA co-workers made it happen
In FY26, we worked towards a 50/50 gender balance across Inter IKEA Group (FY26: 45% female/55% male). We monitor and report gender pay differences annually, including both overall earnings and an analysis adjusted for country of employment and job grade.

Range development for a better life at home
The IKEA business idea is to offer a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at prices so low that as many people as possible can afford them. FY26 saw the launch of 2,900 new and updated products, eight collections, including the return of iconic IKEA PS, where innovative and experimental design ideas come to life for a broader audience.
During the year, IKEA retailers ran a global campaign designed to help more people enjoy cooking and eating at home, with solutions that combine functionality, inspiration and affordability.
We continued to improve capabilities in product development and sourcing while always bearing in mind people and the environment. For example, in FY26, we increased the share of recycled cotton to 50% in several products including the GURLI cushion cover and the SOLFIBBLA duvet cover set, without increasing the price. Work is ongoing to make this possible at scale.
We also launched the new LAGAN dishwasher in Europe, which offers EU Energy Class A performance at a low price. Its standard eco programme uses 43% less electricity per cycle than the previous model.
