IKEA joins DCSA+ to drive digital standards in container shipping
IKEA Supply has joined DCSA+ as one of the first cargo owners to participate in a programme aimed at developing digital shipping standards to improve efficiency and transparency in the global container shipping industry.
DCSA+, the Digital Container Shipping Association’s partnership programme, is dedicated to enhancing digital standards in the shipping industry. As one of the first cargo owners in the DCSA+, IKEA brings an important perspective to the group of partners, which includes freight forwarders, port operators, technology providers, and others.
“We believe collaboration is the way to make global shipping more efficient and predictable. By joining DCSA+ as one of the largest shippers globally, we aim to contribute to better information sharing and traceability of goods in transit. It is through Initiatives like these that we contribute to creating better shopping experiences for IKEA customers by making sure products are available when and where they are needed,” says Ewelina Taylor, Global Transport Manager at Inter IKEA Group.
For many decades, IKEA has partnered with industry organisations, coalitions, and NGOs across various sectors to create positive and long-term change. This approach is the most effective way to improve and renew ways of working, as it includes the needs of multiple stakeholders. Going ahead, IKEA will encourage more cargo owners to join DCSA+, as it will help secure stronger benefits for consumers.
“Welcoming IKEA Supply AG to DCSA+ shows how important shared digital standards are for making global shipping more connected and efficient. Having a global leader like IKEA join us highlights just how valuable this work is for the entire industry,” says Mariana Bock-Losada, Chief Growth Officer at DCSA.
Joining DCSA+ is part of IKEA’s effort to make its shipping operations more transparent, automated, and effecient.
