HAVSTEN outdoor sofa awarded Red Dot Award in Product Design

The IKEA HAVSTEN outdoor sofa, has been awarded with the 2017 Red Dot Award: Product Design. Red Dot Award is an internationally organised competition which reviews the best products of the year.

With around 5,000 entries from more than 50 countries each year, the Red Dot Award is one of the world’s largest international product competitions. All products are assessed individually by an international jury of around 40 experts. With a modular design, offering the customer to choose height, width, number of seats and several colour options, the IKEA HAVSTEN outdoor sofa is designed to be functional and meet the various needs of outdoor environments.

“I wanted to design a sofa with a light and visible construction, where all materials are detachable. The construction details in metal gives HAVSTEN its design expression," says Andreas Fredriksson, Designer at IKEA.

About Red Dot Award

Red Dot Award is one of the most respected international design competitions in the world and organized by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany. The award was founded in 1955 and receives more than 17,000 submissions each year. The prize is divided into three categories: product design, communication design and design concept.
