Life at IKEA
Figuring things out, together
Keeping things simple but effective is our favourite way of working. Meetings and powerpoints are great, but we believe you can also get plenty done over a coffee, a chat in the aisle or a quick get-together. And it's more fun!
IKEA was born in the rugged Swedish countryside where a down-to-earth, common-sense attitude became part of our culture. Complicated solutions and processes can be expensive and time-consuming, and that's just not how we do things.
Working in a simple, straightforward and down-to-earth way is a reflection of our proud Småland heritage and our key value of ‘Simplicity’. It also goes hand-in-hand with our value: ‘different with a meaning’. We also believe in treating each other with respect. So, you should find an open atmosphere here, where you can dare to be different, try something new and ask not only ‘Why?’ and ‘Why not?’ but also ‘What if?’
Equal. Inclusive. Diverse.
Putting words into action
Great minds don’t think alike, that’s why we believe in putting our very different heads together to solve problems and meet our goals. What’s unique about you and every individual makes IKEA better. We recruit and welcome a wide diversity of people, because a great mix of minds, talents and unique personalities not only makes us stronger, wiser and better, it’s also the best reflection of our customers worldwide.
The IKEA values
We hold a set of core values that serve as our guiding principles in everything we do. These values shape our culture by driving us to act with purpose and intention.
The IKEA values were formed during a challenging period in Sweden, where harsh living conditions forced people to make do with what they had. This environment created a spirit of entrepreneurship, resilience, and resourcefulness, shaping a culture focused on hard work and practicality. While much has changed since the early days of the IKEA brand, Today we have grown into a global business with the size and reach to create positive change, not only for people but also for the planet. But on the inside, not a lot has changed.
