International Sales
A home in Costa Rica
Amelia has been an IKEA fan since her first visit to a store in 2011, so when it was time to renovate her family home in Costa Rica, she reached out to our International Sales team. They helped with all her home furnishing needs – both inside and out!
Amelia discovered IKEA during her days as an industrial design student in Costa Rica. However, despite its reputation as an example of form and function in her home country, there are no IKEA stores to be found. In 2011 during a trip to Barcelona, she visited her first IKEA store and immediately became a fan. “Although there is no IKEA store in Costa Rica, the brand remains a reference point for people like me who keep up with international design trends,” she explains.
When it came to renovating the family’s colonial-style home – including several additions and an outdoor space that’s often used for lounging and socialising – Amelia and her family knew exactly what they wanted, but how to get it? That’s when she reached out to the International Sales team at IKEA.
“We had many questions about the import process, payment options, and product selection, but everything turned out to be very easy thanks to the guidance provided by the IKEA team," recalls Amelia. "My family and I spent several weeks choosing products, carefully considering design, dimensions, and our specific needs. We also invited a couple of friends to add items to the list so we could fill an entire container. Since they were also IKEA fans, they were thrilled to take part!”
Amelia’s container arrived in Costa Rica a month later. “When the products finally arrived, it was an incredible moment. We were amazed by the sheer number of boxes, how well-organised everything was, and that everything arrived in perfect condition,” she recalls. Together with friends and family, she assembled everything and added the new pieces, giving the newly renovated home a fresh, functional style, that's unmistakably IKEA.
