Donate to benefit the kids at Rady Children's Hospital

Thanks to all who turned out for AJ's Kids Crane this year!!

AJ has since come down from the Crane -- but WOW, San Diego you came up big time with all of your generous donations!

If you weren't able to make it out to the crane this year...don't worry! You can still come into IKEA San Diego to make your donation of a new unwrapped toy in our donation bin located by the exit doors.

The toys collected will benefit Rady Children's Hospital and help keep them stocked up for 2019. Your generosity will bring smiles to the faces of hundreds of local kids this holiday season.

Send a message of hope this holiday season

When you send a UNICEF Holiday Greeting Card, you can help bring hope, health, and happiness to children around the world.

Select from a variety of cards and feel good knowing that 100% of the proceeds from sales of UNICEFF cards goes to the US fund for UNICEF.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) works in 190 counties and territories to save and improve children’s lives, providing health care and immunizations, clean water and sanitation, nutrition, education, emergency relief and more. The U.S Fund for UNICEF supports UNICEF’s work through fundraising, advocacy, and education in the United States. Together, we are working toward the day when ZERO children die from preventable causes and every child has a safe and healthy childhood.

IKEA's tapping into more ways to use less water

• The average bathroom sink faucet flows at a rate of two gallons a minute. If you install a new low-flow faucet, you can slow that flow, which reduces water use by up to 50%.
• Place a bucket in the shower when you're running the water to make it warm. Then use the water to water your indoor and outdoor plants.
• Turn off the water when you brush your teeth. You can save up to 8 gallons of water a day simply by turning off the tap while you brush your teeth in the morning and at night. (Turn it off when you shave, too, gentlemen!)

NEW at IKEA San Diego
Generating Power through Fuel Cells

Reflecting our Swedish heritage, IKEA has a strong commitment to sustainability and a goal of being energy independent by 2020. To achieve this objective, IKEA has invested in renewable technologies to generate electricity onsite at San Diego. In addition to a 252-kw solar array atop the store, we have installed a fuel cell system to provide additional electricity.

Slightly larger than the physical size of a commercial back-up generator, our fuel cell system runs on biogas – instead of natural gas – to ensure the projects are carbon neutral. The program will produce approximately 1,665,101 kWh of electricity annually for the store, the equivalent of reducing 877 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) – equal to the emissions of 185 cars or to providing electricity for 130 homes yearly

We are excited that IKEA has expanded its renewable energy portfolio by using fuel cell technology to help power IKEA San Diego!!
