Material

What is ramie?

Ramie is one of the world's oldest known textile fibers, it is strong and has great moisture-absorbing properties. The ramie plant, which is part of the nettle family, is grown in East Asia and is usually harvested two to three times per year. Extracting the fiber from the innermost part of the stem and then washing and drying it is quite a complicated process. The silky-smooth fibre is often mixed with cotton or wool to make curtains and other interior textiles.
