Product details

The drawers are easy to open and spacious enough with room for toys, clothes and other gadgets that teenagers usually like to "store" on the floor.

Soft edges, recessed handles and just a few visible fittings make the bedframe safe and give it a clean design.

You can easily adapt the timeless look based on your taste and personal style by completing with different bed textiles, pillows and accessories.

The shelf section can be attached at the headboard or footboard of the bed.

If you need extra storage close at hand, you can hang MÖJLIGHET bed pocket over the headboard or footboard of the bed.

You can also use the bed as a room divider since the back is covered and lacquered in the same color as the rest of the frame.

If you have a thick rug, the drawers at the bottom are still easy to open since the bottom of the frame is slightly higher.

Max load indicates static weight, in other words the load which the bed withstands if you lie or sit on it.

May be completed with other products from the SLÄKT series as well as textiles and accessories from the MÖJLIGHET series.

Mattress and bedlinens are sold separately.

Very Sturdy, Well Worth the PriceMatthewThis was my first ever IKEA purchase, purchased the bed for my 3 year old. At the time of purchase the bed was $300 plus the max shipping of $69. The price was higher than comparable storage bed frames from other large chains but cheaper (even with shipping) than some local mattress/bed stores name brand versions. Overall the assembly took about 4 hours by myself (30 y/o M) and there were only a few steps I thought really needed a second person (when securing some of the larger parts together) but mostly is fine to do with 1 person. The instructions were relatively easy to follow. I picked this in large part due to the partial fiberboard construction compared to all particleboard for cheaper options. I am very happy with the sturdiness of the overall bed. The drawers work perfectly, even on carpet. Only thing I would say is the bed is very tall so if purchased for a younger child you may need a step stool and a railing or bumper. Would definitely purchase again if we needed another.5
SLAKT twin bedARTHIIt fits a regular twin mattress just fine, you aren't restricted to just IKEA mattresses even though the measurements look like they're just a bit off. A bit disappointed that the drawers aren't soft-close. It looks beautiful, and I'm a big fan of the rounded corners with two rough-and-tumble boys. Time will tell how it holds up.5
Mattress is high enough offTracyMattress is high enough off the ground for kids to find it interesting and fun, but not as high as a top bunk.5
Great heightCATHYThis bed frame is great for teenagers since there are four drawers and two cubbies for storage. The drawers do not go the full width of the frame and the frame itself is quite high.5
Missing partsBrendaThe good part is it seems very sturdy, but we had to return ours because 2 boards that were supposed to be mirror images were not. The holes were drilled on the wrong side of one of them, so we couldn't build it and had to return it. Very frustrating, since it was about 6 steps in that we figured this out! They were unable to mail us replacement boards since our "local" store (an hour and a half away) had none in stock.1
It’s amazing!!JenniferOur daughters room is small and she needs the extra storage. The bed is very sturdy. We wish all our ikea dresser drawers had the middle support!5
Our middle-school aged kids followedKIMBERLYOur middle-school aged kids followed the instructions & put the bed together (a bit challenging); both are happy about the design and the drawer space the beds afford. Excellent for small bedrooms!5
Solid bedGretchen M.Love the look of this bed for my 11 year old daughter. Definitely pay attention to the directions and how to build it according to which side you want the drawers and cubbies to face. The only disappointment was we did not know we needed to purchase the slats separately so now waiting for those. Please IKEA, make sure you list what else is needed along with the bed frame.4
Was awesome but then…Kelly F.Bought this bed for my son and it was such an awesome space saver that I bought for my 3 other kids. We have now had them for over 2 years and the drawers are breaking and are hard to push in and out. Wish they would last longer!!3
Excellent bed but terrible assembly instructions!JenniferWe bought this bed as a first grown up bed for our 4 year old grand-daughter. Excellent storage and good strong bed. Over the years we have bought many Ikea products and assembled them easily, however because of the complexity of the instructions [or non instructions], it took 3 reasonably intelligent adults almost 4 hours to assemble. On the bright side, our grand-daughter loves it and said "it is beautiful".5
Great Child"s Twin BedALWe enjoyed the design of the bed/dresser combo. It was easy to build though took some time.5
Excellent bedMonicaThis bed is extremely sturdy, the drawers are very large, and it’s just the right height. Not super tall and not short. The only thing extra you need to by are the slats. I would definitely buy another one! (Assembly is a 3 because… it’s ikea. They’re always a pain haha).5
Slakt kids bedYvetteThis bed looks very nice and is Sturdy. Bought for my 8yr old but can see it lasting until her teenage years5
Kids bed- space saverCarlyHave two of this bed in one room. Saves lots of space not having to have extra dressers and night stands. The beds look very nice. They may have to stay in that room forever though, they don’t seem like they would be really hard to move.5
Fantastic BedLouisaThe Slakt Twin Bed is not only beautiful, but a functional piece of bedroom furniture!5
Love this bedJessicaPerfect for my two teen daughters who share a room!5

SLÄKT Bed frame w/storage+slatted bedbase, white, Twin

For all kids who like to dangle legs

When we developed SLÄKT bed with storage, we had help from the world's leading experts at being children – children themselves. 10 children aged 8 to 14 got to see and test the first bed version. Sitting on the edge of the bed with dangling legs, they thought of very important and crucial points.

Anna Carme works with product development at Children's IKEA and came up with the idea of a bed with storage after having visited many homes of families with children around the world. "Many families have limited space and the lack of storage creates a lot of frustration. It can also be difficult for children of school age to find their own place where they can have their things close at hand."

Without hard edges and handles

Anna and her team presented a first version of the bed with shelves and drawers – without handles. "We know that children of this age like to throw themselves onto the bed and can get hurt from protruding handles", Anna explains. And of course, the children threw themselves onto the bed when the team invited them to a Kid's Lab, a structured method we’ve developed to hear children's opinions and feedback. When the children settled in and sat on the bed’s edge, their ideas started to flow. "A boy pointed out that he could feel the edge of the bed as he sat with his legs dangling", says Anna. “He also wanted to be able to "slide" off the bed easily."

A bed from a child’s perspective

"The other children agreed and of course they were right in wanting a bed to be comfortable to sit on too", says Anna. The children's opinions led to the edge being lowered. ”It was important for us to develop a bed from a child’s perspective. This is the way we do things at Children´s IKEA. By involving children in our product development, we can learn more about their needs and dreams – and how they get in and out of bed."

What is fiberboard?

Fiberboard is a stable and durable material made of leftover wood from the wood industry. A durable outer layer of paint or laminate is added to the board. The difference between various types of fiberboards, such as HDF and MDF, is mainly the thickness, yet also how impact-resistant they are – and this determines what we use them for. So regardless if it’s a bed, a wardrobe or your new bathroom cabinet, the leftover wooden fiber becomes a resource instead of going to waste.

Form design process

For all kids who like to dangle legs

When we developed SLÄKT bed with storage, we had help from the world's leading experts at being children – children themselves. A group between the ages of 8 and 14 contributed valuable input. Like being able to sit on the bed and then slide off of it without feeling the bed’s edge. Of course they were right, so we lowered the edge. By involving children directly in our product development, we can learn more about their needs – and how they get out of bed.
