PerfectSusanLooks fabulous, put together easily, just what we wanted. If two 70-ish seniors can put this together in approximately 2 hours, anyone can!5
BedChrisNot the easiest to put together, made of very cheap material, easily damaged, can't even tap on furniture with mallet without damaging it. Bought a full size bed and our full size mattress was way to big, had to return it for a Queen. Be sure to look over the mattress sizes that fit the bed, because the full size is more like a twin.3
Great product!! Beautiful appearance!!MIGUEL A.Good quality!!! Modern!!!5
Great Queen BedJeffThis is a very nicely made bed and easy to put together.5
Worth the waitDanielleWaited months for this bed and it was worth the wait. Looks great. Exactly as expected and delivery was so convenient.5
Cheapgaliana c.This bed is the absolute worst I bought it a month ago and two weeks in one of the drawers broke so it doesn’t hold anything and is difficult to open. Now the wood underneath the bed keeps falling because the metal bars on the side are breaking off from the wood. An absolute waste of money. All my furniture is from Ikea and this is the first time I have ever had something break. Never again am i going to get something from Ikea.1

Great valueGeorgeGood value and design. Very easy to assemble. The hardest part was opening the boxes. They were so tightly glued together and I didn’t want to use knife to damage the wood.5
Nice bed frame but side frame is too wide or thick for meReneePerhaps it's because I'm only 5'3" and don't have long legs, side of the frame is sticking out so much my calf hurts when I sit on the bed or every time when I get out of bed. So happened my son needs a new bed so I gave it to him.3
Very Sturdy and AttractiveCarlaI am really pleased with the appearance and construction of this bed. Although 2 of the pieces came chipped, I was able to discuss the replacement of only those pieces with Ikea without having to take it completely apart and haul it all back to the store. (My only complaint is that we had to hire someone to do the labor a second time. I think that Ikea should have paid for the second assembly job.)5
Great simple nice looking bedMADHAVIWas easy to assemble, looks great.5

Assembly was ease and fast.OlgaAssembly was ease and fast. It’s was my “LEGO”, I have fun.5
Mostly straightforward assembly, sturdy and attractive designAnonymousPurchased the queen version of the Malm platform bed with four underbed storage boxes. Took slightly longer than 3 hours for two people to assemble the bed frame and headboard, but we were meticulous in following the instructions and did all hardware tightening by hand (no power tools). This definitely is a two-person assembly, though, and there were one or two head-scratchers that had us pre-reading the next step to make sure we understood how it was all supposed to fit together. Believe the instruction manual. Very happy with the white stained oak finish. It's extremely attractive, and very solid.
There was some damage to the underbed storage drawers which were packaged separately (though all shipped together by truck). However, Ikea customer service made it right. Overall, quite pleased with how this will work in our guest bedroom.4

Instructions left a lot to be interpretedTracyI wish the directions were clearer. We had to drill holes in our storage drawers to compensate for installing sides incorrectly.
The slats for the support did not go on the second rung of the bed frame, as is clearly shown on the drawing....it is WRONG!!!!4
Our take on wood
Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.
Forests are critical for life on earth
Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.
100% wood from more sustainable sources
At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.
IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030
As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.
We accomplish more by working together
For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.
What is veneer?
A veneer is a thin wooden sheet attached to things like particleboard to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak, and beech, and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.
