Worth itVelmeshaLove this bed frame! It's durable and I also love the extra storage5
Worst purchase everDianaPurchased this bed frame less than a week and ever since I haven't had a good sleep. I always speak so great about ikea but ikea failed me with this Purchase. This is a total waste of money and would appreciate pick for return. I can't afford to pay again to dissamble this bed and them hire a bigger car to bring it to the store with two babies. The bed makes very loud sound everytime I seat on it, the bed feels that it is bending from one, it moves by simply making the bed, drawers are very difficult to open and close, the head board moves with no way to tight the screws more because the wood can break, the whole bed is so janky. This bed DOESN'T FEEL SAFE to sleep on. The bed really feels that will collapse and I can hurt myself. I purchased thise bed and hasn't even been 7 days and I really need to exchange it but need ikea to pick it up please.1
Ikea does not assemble furniture GinaIKEA does not offer assembling anymore. not easy to assembly. cheap wood... nice design though 2
Great Teen BedCarrieThis was a great bed for our teens updated room, easy to put together and sturdy. I would recommend they give you a better tool for their generic screws.4
Slats not supportive Caitlin EThe luroy slats are very flimsy and not supportive. We put a brand new mattress on this frame and it felt saggy, not supportive. We have the same mattress on another bed with better support slats and love it. We are having to buy additional slats from another company to support the mattress. The frame and drawers are good, but stronger slats are needed. Really disappointed that we have to spend more money on stronger slats after purchasing this bed.1
Consistently breaking /slats fall offKathleenWe have the queen version of this and a few times a week the slats move around and the bed falls right off. We are two relatively small people so this should not be happening. Poor quality, everything was put together well. They need to make different slats for this frame they are too small. 2
Excellent, simple storage bed ReneeWe wanted extra storage in our new home and this bed delivers. The Malm line is super simple — clean, low lines. The storage drawers are big and slightly clunky, but get the job done. We hired a TaskRabbit to put the bed together to save ourselves that trouble; he assembled in less than 3 hours. 5
Loving it!JohnI have had my eyes set on a platform bed. Did a lot of research comparing other beds with competitors. This bed has obviously won and am in love with how easily it was to assemble. The four drawers have and will come in handy to store extra bed linens amongst clothing set for the seasons. Using the slats have made it easier on my back as they contour to my body giving me a good nights sleep. Going from a sleigh bed, I would definitely recommend this bed, especially with all the accoutrement that MALM has and how compatible it is with the many other products.5
Awful productBjornI've been generally very happy with all of our IKEA stuff and so I was excited to get this bed. It is really really bad. The "wood" is very lightweight and flimsy particle board/cardboard type material. The screws are very delicate and will strip out with minimal torque and nearly impossible to install without ruining them. Once you get it all set up, the metal rails and wooden slats are extremely clanky and squeaky. The whole bed is flimsy and bendy. The slide out drawers not being railed to the bed is very janky. 1/5 is being generous. However, IKEA customer support was very helpful and expedient in getting a return pickup scheduled. The bed does look pretty nice, if it was made from higher quality materials and and a better rail/slat design it would be much better.1
Good... until you want to make your bed...LaurentI love the drawers. But the way our mattress sinks inside the frame makes it very difficult to make the bed. We have a heavy and firm mattress and putting a fitted sheet on it is very painful with that bed frame. In fact, every time I am changing the sheets, I know I am going to have to get my hands hurt, and every time I curse the engineer(s) who designed this, and I hope when they get to purgatory they will be forced to make their beds again and again with this design.2
Nice ProductLuisaThis bed frame is perfect and very sturdy. Well made and would recommend. The storage drawers are nice a big.5

Excellent bed with large drawers.WendyExcellent bed with large drawers. Perfect for extra bed.5
Satisfied CusstomersDonaldThe overall quality of the product was very good. The assembly instructions left a lot to be desired. They were pictures only without any written information to help guide you through the assembly process.5
We love this product. WeJulieWe love this product. We bought two for our teenagers and they agree they are comfortable and durable.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet attached to things like particleboard to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak, and beech, and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.
