Not Made in SwedenMichael D.Well simplistic and practical designed. Not made in Sweden.4
Perfect size sewing boxNorma W.I’m going to shabby chic this up and store all the bits of my English Paper Piecing. I like how it’s raw wood and we can all put our own spin on the finish. Great value and pride of craftsmanship.5
Perfect Mobile Station for any Hobby!SHAWN S.All I can say is it just hits the mark if you have a hobby that you need to pick up and move at any given moment! Assembly required, but totally worth it on the other side!5
Great box for artistsJILL W.I bought this for my Dad and he loves it! Lots of room for art supplies and so many ways to decorate and design to make it your own. I liked it so much that I bought one for myself.5
Simple and ElegantAntonioThis by far has been the most useful storage box for daily items. The bottom tray is large enough to hold remotes and the top two trays w dividers hold pens and smaller items. We have own two.5
Excellent Desk OrganizerCarmenMy wife is a part-time artist and she loves the way she could place her items away from her work area! Being an artist, she loved decorating the organizer. She loves it! I am happy because she is happy!5
Worse Than Usual QualityKATYI was excited to find a wooden sewing box of this type, but it's $40, has one set of shelves, and the kicker for me is they didn't even sand it. I'm going to have to do so much prepwork even to get this ready to paint and assemble that it's absolutely not worth the money. It doesn't even feel like very sturdy plywood. I could have bought the materials and gotten the project this far for cheaper. It's a total disappointment.1
So versatile. I found moreHELENSo versatile. I found more than one way to use this item. Well made and great price.4
I'd rather bash in my own thumbs with a hammer.Andrew W.Absolutely awful quality, I'm actually shocked that Ikea could be somehow even worse than it already is. The holes were misaligned and the whole flat + screw head thing to put it together is just awful. Yes, awful. That's how I would describe this thing. Even with a cordless drill, I couldn't get it done right. To add insult to injury, a screw was missing. Awful.1
too priceyDAI D.Why such a high price for such an item in untreated wood that you have to assembly it yourself? Frankly it looks like something out of Michealsor some craft stores.1
BoxNICHELLEGood enough. Bought to use as a sewing kit. Might stain it.4
I bought 2 - oneDonnaI bought 2 - one for sewing notions and the other to carry paint supplies to class. They are a huge step up from plastic bins with way more functionality and style.5
Well-crafted multifunctional Ikea awesomenessC N.See end for a valuable Ikea tip. I love this aesthetically attractive complement to my (much) bulkier, heavier metal toolbox. Its base is deep and wide enough for a hammer, several screwdrivers and a wrench, all full-sized. The upper fold-out sections hold pliers, a mini screwdriver set, a nail set kit, and a compact flashlight plus sandpaper, screws, nails, brads, and other fiddly bits. I bought this soon after it was first in US stores, back in 2020 (?), and didn't encounter most concerns reported in more recent reviews. I lightly sanded each wood piece pre-assembly, as I do with any raw wood item. Assembly does require 2 screwdrivers (1 flat head, 1 Phillips; most homes' toolkits have each but if yours is lacking, neither costs much) and to assemble this, it helps to use short-handled versions. TIP: Before you buy anything from Ikea that needs assembly, consult the assembly documents (Product details > Assembly & documents) to ensure you have the needed resources.5
Great hobby box for the priceIRVINGot it on sale to use for my citadel paints. It was an easy set up and allows for lots of little customizations. That’s actually the main reason why I settled on it. Going to install holders for the paints and brushes5
Unique storage boxNANCYI love this little box. The top trays keep small items organized and easy to see, and the space underneath has plenty of room for bulkier objects. The only issue I had was with the hardware. It took quite a bit of effort to get the screws and screw posts tight enough to hold the wooden hinge pieces in place, so they didn't wobble.5
Perfect for my crafting toolsAndrewI was skeptical about wether or not this box would be able to handle the weight of all of my crafting tools loaded inside of it but it was on sale so I gave it a try. It is fantastic and sturdier than it looks.5
Cute but may have QC issues?Amy W.I put together the box as directed. Tools aren’t included and you need a straight and a Philips screwdriver (both at the same time). It took about 30 minutes and was easy, the longer than I expected. The biggest con for me is that it did not end up straight, so the two little boxes on the top don’t line up exactly. There were also some rough areas, splintering, and a couple holes that needed a bit of wood chipped away. I will probably keep it anyways, but it was disappointing for the price.3
Great gift, 2waysSHERRIEGave these to my daughter as a sewing box and to my grandson as an art box. Decided to leave unassembled so they could first approach it as an art project. They love them and they are so functional.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.
