Excellent valueDouglas C.Would be perfect if the pieces that hold the shade were more sturdy. Still a great value!4
Great item and excellent price!KrisGreat item and excellent price!5
Pretty and offers good lightThaddeus60Great light, BUT....the installation was difficult due to design. We got longer screws with nuts for each end. That was the only way to align the holes to affix to the ceiling electrical plate.3
Beautiful light!Richard618I like the light fixture but it’s not bright enough for the bathroom!4
lovelyCooksterJust bought a condo that had one of these and I was delighted to see it when I just happened to go to Ikea. Bought several and now all of ceiling fixtures match. Quiet and lovely and an update on the boring ceiling lights you see so often from Home Depot.4
Looks great but clips are an issueEC NYC+ Great value and price + Looks great once installed + Easy to install but I had to drill a new hole line up the screws to my ceiling box - Clips are a weak point, hard to clip on and then can clip off so I wedged a toothpick in to keep it from unclipping3
Safety HazardTaylorlightfootIKEA seems to have a history of making cheap lights that then become recall items due to the risk of the glass falling off and hitting people. The plastic clips that hold the metal brackets in place do not stay secure, resulting in loose holding of the glass piece. I had to modify the clips to ensure that they retain a strong hold and thus tight and secure holding of the glass piece. I would only recommend this light if you're a handyman and comfortable wedging something into the plastic clips in order to keep them snapped in place without unsnapping.1
Cheap and easy to installPersiaJust installed #10. The shade can be tricky, but slide it into two of the clips first, then gently tug on the third one to get it to fit. I've never had an issue. I'm on #10 because my friends like these so much that they ask me to install for them too!5
Very attractive inexpensive ceiling fixtureExasperantoBefore you buy, consider these two problems. 1-The clips that hold the glass shade have to properly and fully snap into place. This took a bit of excess force with a screwdriver or plier to get it right. Not impossible, but not easy for someone lacking in brute strength. 2-I ordered 5 lamps. 2 of the 5 were delivered with broken glass shades, as they were really poorly packed. The 2 replacement fixtures came today, and 1 of the 2 again had a broken glass shade. Again, this was due to poor packing, with one light at the bottom of the box, with no paper scrunchys between the big shipping box and the little light fixture box. The light fixture sitting on top of the broken one survived. Best bet is to pick it up at the store, or prepare for many replacements.4
Don"t Buy; An Assembly and Installation NightmareFinallyWisedUpIt takes almost superhuman strength to snap in the small plastic fittings that hold the shade to the base. Since I don't possess that power, I used a block of wood and a small hammer on the five HYBY lights I bought. But that wasn't the end of the pain from these essential but infuriating clips. Once the fixtures were on the ceiling, at least one clip per light popped out of its slot, so I had to wrestle with getting them back in while standing on a ladder. It's my own fault though. I've probably purchased 25 different IKEA products but I never learn. Between purchases I forget that IKEA's merchandise is so cheap because it is made of inferior materials, uses unnecessarily complex assembly methods, and suffers from indifferent quality control. Unfortunately I didn't come to my senses until I was halfway done installing the lights and by that time it was less hassle just to finish up. Do they look good? They're OK, but because of the design, the shade doesn't always sit level, on a couple of the lamps the shade tips. Anyway, I feel like an idiot for thinking it would be possible to deliver an acceptable product at such a low price point.1
Simple Light Fixture That Does the JobLeslie30I bought two of these for my entrance and hall. They have clean lines, give plenty of light, were relatively easy to install, and had a good price.5
LivCThis light is really bright, which I love about it! The cover looks great when lit or not lit. It's fairly easy to remove the cover to replace the bulbs. Overall, this was a great purchase.5
best productsulta18I brought month ago and i am so happy i did.5
Ceiling lampSteph331Bought this for my living room. Looks great. The color is a light blue, but when it's up under the light, it's more white.4
Emily B84Great no-frills light for our boys’ room.5
Absolutely love!Candi KI bought our first one two weeks ago. My husband had it installed in minutes. Brightened up the hallway immediately and looks so much better than the clear glass globe we had. Went back and bought a second for the other end of the hallway.5
Great light!zeusmNice light. Doesnt shine too bright and adds a nice contemporary feeling to my hallway.5
Great looking fixtureHellen111This looks better in the bedroom than in the showroom. The price is unbeatable.5
Looks great but had to alter screw holesMburbGreat look but line up the screw holes before wiring it will save you time - the screw holes are not set for a standard box. Ended up punching a hole for my size light box4
The biggest with all IKEA ceiling lightragingnoobieIs that they only support the wider screw spacing on the ceiling mount. My condo uses a narrower spacing, so I need to buy another piece of ceiling mount to make it work. Even then it doesn't always work. If you can get past the installation this lamp is great. Beautiful modern look. I use it in my walk-in closet.4

What is glass?

Glass is mainly made of sand, soda, and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
