Reviews

Poor paint jobTeresa T.Unboxed carefully because we used to have ikea furnitures; however, we found bad paint jobs on the side boards.4
It's PerfectDiAhnnaI needed a sofa/ couch for an extra room and I love how this turned out. It looks similar to cozy sofa but pulls out into something larger for guest or just hanging out. You may want to add a topper to the mattresses because they aren't suitable for long-term use when you pull it out, in my opinion. But my household really enjoys this addition.5
Great PieceMargaretFollow the directions and you won’t have a problem. Really nice piece of furniture.5
good buildAlexanderBe carful moving this when it's built. The top molding is "snap-on" and may loosen.4

Impressed by the Quality.Line M.Well packaged with zero damage upon delivery. Easy to understand assembly instructions. It is truly a guest bed and not something that replaces an everyday sleeper. Get the better mattress and like other reviews about the slats, don’t jump or rough house on it as those can break, however thay are easy to find and replace at local hardware store. Big drawers for storage. Worth the price!4
NOT difficult to assemble, like others have said.MARLA M.I got this daybed for my daughter's very small bedroom. The 3 drawers are HUGE and will come in really handy for storing the extra pillow/blanket for the trundle. I put this together 100% by myself... no husband needed! Overall, it took me 4 hours, which isn't bad at all! I don't understand all of the reviews that said it was difficult to put together or the directions were hard to follow. I don't agree. Maybe if you've never used a screwdriver before, or never followed assembly directions before. If you go one step at a time, double-check, and just take your time, it was pretty simple. I used wood glue on the wood-to-wood parts to make it stronger. My drawers close perfectly, the trundle closes/opens fine (unless someone is sitting on bed) and if you want to keep the bed strong, you do NOT pull the trundle out all the way (that's why there are catches on it). It's beautiful! I wish I could attach a photo.5
Drawers are difficult.MICHELE H.We really like the looks of the bed. It took 2 people to put it together. However, the drawers are very difficult to open. We have a feeling our daughter will end up storing things in there she does not use. Also, the directions were sometimes vague in places.2
I love the product butJohnI love the product but the assembly was very confusing and very difficult and took a lot of time! With the help of Task Rabbit Tasker, he made it work for me. Thank you.5
As expectedSarahWe have had a few of these over the years, same quality as the first purchase4

Highly recommend!KathrynThis daybed is perfect. It is incredibly easy to convert into the larger bed and functions as our guest bed. The drawers are super spacious and great for storing extra pillows and blankets. I love the Hemnes style - it easily fits into our decor but gives us the flexibility to change if we want to.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is fibreboard?

Fiberboard is a stable and durable material made of leftover wood from the wood industry. A durable outer layer of paint or laminate is added to the board. The difference between various types of fiberboards, such as HDF and MDF, is mainly the thickness, yet also how impact-resistant they are. This determines if we will use them for bed frames, sofa frames, kitchen fronts, wardrobe doors, or something completely different.
