Fell Apart TWICESTRTAbout 6 months ago the center “support” ripped off the footboard and the bed fell apart. My husband fixed it by putting carriage bolts through the support and footboard and putting cement blocks under it. Last night in the middle of the night bed falls apart again with us on it. The center support ripped off the headboard this time. So done with Ikea.1
Does not lastspeakmattAt first, you will think this is a nice bed at a great value. Unfortunately, you will find this bed will not last longer than a few years. We got ours in 2017 and now, in 2020, we're already having to replace it because it fell apart on us. And the entire time we had it, there was an impossible-to-locate squeaking noise. Avoid this bed.1
Looks good, but isn"t the bestalogg13Got the frame about 1-2 years ago, and we were happy with the way that it looked. It creaked EVERY TIME we sat down on it, or moved while laying down which was annoying enough. However the other night, I laid down on the bed closer to the foot board and the top piece separated from the rest of it, and the two vertical panels became un-glued. Fast-forward a few hours and me and my wife are awoken to a loud BANG as the foot board completely broke. Now the mattress is on the floor. Buy at your own risk.1
Nice looking but footboard fell apartFJPR3Looking at the other reviews, it seems the footboard issue is a common problem. I bought the Hemnes king bedframe black-brown a bit over 6 years ago (along with two 2 drawer chests, a 3 drawer chest, 6 drawer chest, 8 drawer dresser, and a king mattress and box spring). Noticed that the footboard started slightly separating a bit ago. Suddenly the other night, the footboard collapsed with some of the wood pieces splitting and the panels popping out. The entire left side of the bed crashed to the floor. We've been very happy with the purchase prior to this but think this defect in a non-user assembled piece is unacceptable. There are no children in the household and we are not rough users of the furniture. The rest of the frame is intact with only a couple metal supports bent but, looking at the other reviews, this isn't the first time the footboard has been an issue. Very disappointing.3
Looks great, breaks down quicklyHome UserBuilt this in 11/2017 and it look great. Unfortunately at 2 year mark the foot-end fell apart. I feel that this is a poorly designed product (see other reviews). Very disappointed in IKEA customer service. No response to calls for warranty support.1
Starting to fall apartjdm90I bought this bed for our king mattress about 3 years ago. It was difficult to put together and definitely needed two people for the job. The Frame looks great and worked well for us for several years. Last night, right before bedtime I noticed that the footboard was coming apart from the two side pieces that join the headboard and the footboard together. Sure enough, the footboard actually fell out and almost hurt our dog. Not very happy with the outcome of this purchase. I will either need to repair the bed or look for an alternative that will perform better for a longer time.2
Footboard!SleeplessHtownWe've had the bed frame for about 2 years. It looks great but we were recently woken up by popping noises and what seemed like the bed moving. Turns out the footboard is falling apart. Not sure what to do. In the meanwhile we are sleeping in the guest room; don't want to risk falling out of bed in the night.1
Footboard broke while in the bedJess928Like so many others, we had a footboard issue. This bed is 18 months old and last night the footboard broke in half and the bed collapsed. Unacceptable.1
Pregnant and footboard separating at the seamsKellooWe have owned our king frame for a few years now with no real issues, along with 90% of our other ikea furniture. Last year we had a slight issue where a screw came undone at the footboard but otherwise it was fine until now. We noticed that the footboard is starting to come apart at the seams and I’m concerned with being 8 months pregnant that it’s going to come apart. I tried calling customer service to see if there was any solution or part we could replace but they were absolutely no help and couldn’t even confirm if it was a safe frame. Now we are stuck with what to do because we have a baby on the way and no way of knowing if this thing is going to break at any moment.1
AVOIDsuejudyWe purchased the entire Hemnes bedroom set with 3 dressers, 2 nightstands and 1 king size bed. We have this set for approximately 4 years. Since it is a king sized bed the end of the bed is comprised of 2 separate wooden pieces. Last evening we noticed that the bed was tilted and the end of the bed is split down the middle. I immediately went to the website to check for a recall since IKEA is very responsible with their products. Surprised and disappointed to not see a recall since I found many other reviews with the identical problem. I have been calling them all day but their phone line is busy.1
Style or SafetyCharlotte UnderdogAs you can see from all the other reviews there are major safety issue with the support system of this bed. The foot board, and under support structure is a poor design. As many other reviews have pointed out we too were woken out of a sound sleep due to the bed falling out from under us. At the end of the night you ah e a choice style, or safety because with the Hemnes you can’t have both.1
Looks great but very poor designBrassI bought this king size bed about a year ago and the foot board suddenly broke in the center resulting In the box spring sagging in the middle. I know this is a known issue and only wish I knew about it before purchasing.1
Front of the bed splitTyler89Although I was skeptical about the reviews I bought the bed anyway and the day has come where it just split after sitting on the bed like every other night1
It creaked until it broke!ColoradoDudeLike other reviews state, it creaked from day one and got worse as time went on. Last week the footboard decided to self-disassemble at 4am much to our dismay. Lasted about 2 years until it gave up, definitely getting what you pay for here. Looked nice at least!1
Bed broke in the middle of the night!Haley pMy boyfriend bought this bed frame about two or three years ago maybe when he bought his mattress. I love the bed frame so much so that we brought it to our new house when we moved in together. He works nights and in the middle of the night I woke up to the bottom of the bed giving out and the middle piece had snapped right off the side of the frame. He tried fixing it in the morning but it just happened the next night. We would like to know since this has been happening a lot if ikea has fixed it since it works well with our room and it’s a fair price we would like to purchase again.2
Has held up very well!smileygal518I bought this bed in the queen size 6 years ago and have moved 3 times since then and it has held up like a champ. I have not had any of the issues others are talking about - the footboard and headboard are still intact, no cracks, splits, loose screws, etc. I finally upgraded my bed to a king and am purchasing the frame again.5
Didn’t lastMommyinncI bought this 3 years ago. At first I was satisfied, but revelry it started to squeak each time you moved while laying in it. We took it apart and tightened everything. It seemed to correct the problem for a few weeks and now it’s squeaky even more. So disappointed.1
Same story: broken frameIkeaBananaWe’ve had this bed for a few years. It’s always been noisey, but otherwise seemed fine for the price. A few weeks ago the headboard fell apart. After I took it all apart I was able to re-assemble but a few of the connections were broken or failing. After a week or two the headboard suddenly collapsed again violently about an hour after we went to bed. a scary way to wake up! The headboard is now beyond repair, not sure what we can do now... I would not recommend this bed until they figure out a solution for these issues.1
Use to be dependable, not any moreHedied777Went to get into bed tonight and the footboard completely caved in and came apart. I have bought IKEA for years and majority of my home and this piece along with dresser was the WORST. To go to bed and hear a crack sound and bed collapse was as embarrassing and painful as it get. To make matters worst, my wife just had a c-section. Stay away from the bed, cleary durability ans quality has decreased.1
Beautiful Bed Poor QualityPenneyEI bought this bed about 2 years ago. It was easy to assemble & it looks. Unfortunately after a few months, we started having problems with the mattress falling inside the bed on one side. We thought we did something wrong so we purchased a wooden slat for the middle to keep the mattresses from sliding inward. It helped but we still had to be careful every time we got into bed. Recently, the footboard started falling apart. The panel from the footboard is almost detached from the posts. The screws in the footboard for the beam have also came out. We tried calling IKEA customer service many times but only get a standard recording and never speak to anyone. This is very disappointing because we have the whole bedroom set. Night stands, chest of drawers, and dresser. We've glued the wood together with wood glue but it didn't hold. So now we're using a step stool to hold it together until we can buy another bed. I guess I wouldn't be so disappointed if I didn't have the whole set. But not sure if I want to purchase another bed from Ikea.2
