Garbage Product Do Not BuyMatthew B.Drawer sliders fall off easily when pulling drawers out. Drawers catch on adjacent drawers making it unusable. Entire frame is flimsy and wheels are pathetic hard plastic that scuffs floors. Waste of 80 dollars. Don't @ me Ikea.1
Seriously Poorly Made.Eva B.I love Ikea- this piece was a real disappointment. Easy to assemble, but the metal bars that hold up the drawers pop out constantly. I'll likely end up epoxying the bars in place because about three of the drawers are unusable due to this design flaw. I'm handy, I've done carpentry. This could be designed and executed way more neatly and efficiently.2
Not goodMary B.Terrible product. Drawers fall and do not align or close. Even the store model is terrible.1
Not very sturdyHEIDIPut together by bending tabs into notches. Not able to put wheels on due to the screw threads being stripped. Wasn’t expensive, but still over priced.1
Actual piece of garbageCAITLIN B.I was oddly excited about this piece, but I wish I'd opted for something sturdier. The drawers are flimsy and hang off-kilter, which looks sloppy, and many of them don't slide smoothly. The rails took easily 30 minutes to get into place, and they still frequently fall off. Bummer.2
tragic decline in qualityCaroline B.I love these. I rely on these. They are fantastically useful. I have several from 3-5 yrs ago, and they were easy to assemble and much more solid feeling (possibly thicker metal?). I bought another one recently, and it's like night and day. When you hold the drawers in your hands, they feel flimsy and unreliable. They buckle and bend and are visibly crooked. The drawer railings were incredibly hard to get situated properly which just makes the crooked drawers even more crooked. I had to use a rubber mallet to knock them into place, and they still seemed off. The whole cabinet looks terrible because the drawers are all wonky and sitting at different angles with different sized gaps around them. Some of them don't move smoothly along the railings. This seems like a successful product Ikea has offered for a very long time. I really hope they'll get the quality back where it used to be. I'd love to be able to buy more in the future, but in its current iteration, no way.2

helmernicholasdear Ikea cabinet not bad looking products like these should come already assembled a million screws and parts to put together from scratch instructions are never what they should be plus to pay 64 to have this unit assembled on top of the product price would make this very expensive returned this product for a refund to difficult 6to put together not to mention the cabinet is made of metal with sharp edges and nearly cut myself trying to put this thing together better luck next time1
Lightweight small cabinetJO A.We purchased 2 of these for my home sewing room. Nice size but a little flimsy. Instructions to build the cabinets aren’t very good. We found a private YouTube video in order to put it together. For the price, they should be a better quality metal.3
Products with quality problemsDaniel Z.When I received the product, one corner of the cabinet was deformed, and I don't know if this is a courier problem or a product problem. I took pictures, but I can't seem to post pictures in the comments. I do not recommend anyone to order directly online, please look at the actual product first. The product is made of thin and sharp iron and is dangerous to install. The iron is soft and irregular, and the interface does not line up well in many places. After the installation is completed, you can also see a lot of gaps. Disappointing product, if you need a cabinet, I suggest you look at something else.2
WORST EVER Furniture to build, I put it on the garbage!Carol M.If you are an EXPERT person building Ikea furniture, then you can buy this BUT if you are an average DON'T because you are not gonna make it. Once you did something wrong you CANNOT undo it because this drawer doesn't has so many screwers everything is pressing parts of the pieces made it by aluminum. Honestly I did everything ok but again the way to assembly this particular furniture is so different from the other IKEA models. I pretty much lost around 70 box so frustrating and sad. This product should be out of the inventory! SO IMPOSSIBLE TO ASSEMBLY IT! Wish I could have my money back...1
FLIMSYrakhee k.This is so flimsy - the shell dents easily and the drawers don't have a stop so they easily roll out all the way. Cannot stress enough how flimsy this is!1
They’re good when they are made correctlyMarie E.I have four Helmers, two in white (newer, 2021) and two in purple (older, 2018-ish). The purple Helmers are awesome, hands down! Well-produced, all the tabs cut out properly, the drawer rails sit as they should (they snap in easily). The white Helmers are not nearly so good. Poor quality control on the production line, holes for the wheel screws are too small, the metal seems thinner and more flimsy, and it was a struggle to get the drawer tracks seated properly. I use these units to store my nail polish collection as well as my art supplies. I would not trust the white Helmers to hold the weight that the purple Helmers do. It’s really unfortunate, as these issues seem to be much worse with the Covid pandemic. Perhaps they were being sourced from an entirely different factory using different steel? Only they know. Please improve the wheel screw holes by enlarging them. Please bring back the variety of colors. Red, green, or cerulean would be lovely.3
QUALITY CHEAP & FLIMSYAngela S.Article # 504.943.63 HELMER DRAWER UNIT Price: $69.00 THIS IS A TERRIBLE DRAWER UNIT THE QUALITY OF THIS UNIT IS VERY CHEAP & FLIMSY THE TOP NOR THE BACK WON'T STAY ON THE UNIT WITHOUT SOME TYPE OF EXTRA STRENGTH METAL GLUE WHICH I HAD TO PURCHASE ALSO THE INCLUDED WHEELS DO NOT FIT INTO THE DRILL HOLES THIS HELMER DRAWER UNIT IS A RIP OFF IKEA NEEDS TO BE ASHAMED THE PRICE SHOULD BE AT LEAST TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS HOWEVER TO FIXED THIS YOU NEED ONE PIECE OF WOOD THAT WOULD FIT UNDER THE UNIT AND THEN ATTACHED THE WHEELS TO THE PIECE OF WOOD THAT IS UNDER THE UNIT1
Would not buy againTraci S.The steel is very cheap, there were dents on the top and one of the sides of the unit. . Not very sturdy. The directions were not clear on assembly. Would of sent back, but the delivery in my area was $69.00 so not worth the return. Would not recommend.2
Great product when done, but assembly is no fun!Matt R.Once the drawer is complete, it works and looks great, but, putting it together is no fun. I recommend a drill with some stronger magnetism on the bit so you can get the wheel screws on. They're not exactly drilled out to make hand turning easy, at least not the one I got. Some of the drawer tracks won't pop down in their designed spot, so they'll occasionally keep falling out until it's upright and ready to get the drawers assembled. I'd recommend attaching the wheels first, before throwing on all the drawer tracks. Just my recommendation.4
Gotten cheap and flimsy comparedKrisGotten cheap and flimsy compared to my Red Helmet from Europe, 20 years ago!2
falls apart - not recommendedAlex R.This is the worst IKEA product we have purchased. The rails for the drawers don’t stay in place and the thing falls apart. It was difficult to assemble. We may have gotten a defective product. Not recommended.1
Easy assembly but loud open/closeNANCY L.for the price this is okay. I like that it has lots of drawers, but it doesn't roll well and it's pretty loud when you open/close the cabinets but since its steel it makes sense.3
should be easy to build…MayeannThis drawer that should’ve only taken me an hour tops took me almost 3 hours. I had to wrestle with some of the pieces because they didn’t perfectly line up. It all worked out in the end, but I shouldn’t have to wrestle with my furniture… the last drawer is also a bit tight so it’s harder to pull out, but i think it’s just mine. Other than that, I do really like this piece. I like the simple design. I chose not to install the casters since I don’t plan to move it around. It does its job, and I have no complaints on that. Even though it was quite a bit of a nightmare to build, I would probably still buy it again if I need another one, unless I’m able to find a similar one elsewhere at a similar price point.4

What is steel?

Steel has unique characteristics when it is stretched and shaped since it remains strong. It provides strength to everything from skyscrapers and cars to bed frames and outdoor furniture. The steel industry is moving in the direction of more energy-efficient production and stronger steel qualities. It doesn’t lose any of its properties when recycled and today steel is one of the most recycled materials in the world.
