Bought desk for my son.DeLisaBought desk for my son. He loved it and had no problem setting it up by hi.self.5
Looks good. Not as sturdy.AndresEverything looks good and feels sturdy except the two side panels. I accidently moved one and it came off other than that it's a great desk. 300 dollars though I'm not sure about that.3
Probably better as a gaming table than an office deskSheelaI wanted an L-shaped desk in our home office but my husband thought this would work with two computers. (I need two monitors not two computers..) It is a mess of wires and cables. I miss my corner desk but I don't have the heart to tell my husband because he spent a lot of time putting this together. It is a very sturdy piece. Assembly wasn't difficult for my husband but he is the superman of furniture assembly, so if you are not buy it assembled. I like the amount of space under the desk and I can move from left to right to work easily using a desk floor mat. Just not super happy with it as a desk but if you're a gamer you're nuts not to buy this.4
Awesome desk!EriselOh wow, do I love this desk! It’s great as a regular desk, of course, and I’ve started setting up my small form PC which fits perfectly on the lower shelves. It was super easy to set up, too. I was worried it would take up a lot of space even though I’d measured everything beforehand, and yet it fits into my small room perfectly. There’s plenty of space for my gaming consoles, it perfectly fits my 23in monitor with the top shelves inverted, and there’s still space for journals, my gaming dice, etc. those little perks in the cup holders, the knobs to hang things on the top long shelf, and the wire management all just make this desk even more of a gem. And with some nicely placed LED strips, I’m a super satisfied customer! I will say the side panels at the top are a little too on the flimsy side, which could be good or bad. It meant that it was easy to deform the metal, but also flex it back. However that lead to little dings and scratches which for some just adds character, but for others may be too annoying an imperfection. I’m noting that for other people because I fall into the former category of it adding character to something that is mine so it doesn’t bother me, which is also why I’m not taking off a star. I truly love this product.5
Great for kidsKELLYI bought this for my son's room and it is perfect!5
Good deskCARLOverall a good desk. Provides more than enough room for my son's desktop and monitors. Sturdy desk and the cup holders are a great addition.4
Office deskSheilaHusband is very pleased with size and quality.5
Great WorkstationJamieMy husband and I were looking for a desk that could be our home office. This desk is great. It's nice and big, allowing for multiple devices and screens. It's sturdy as well! It's exactly what we were looking for.5
Simply IncredibleRaelenaThis desk really has it all. Hooks for headphones/decor, adjustable shelves, ample cable management space, a huge amount of countertop space, a cutout that fits my chest/stomach & allows my elbows to rest on the desk, and dedicated shelves for PC and books (or cat!). Really, there isn't anything to hate! I imagine that if your PC tower is huge then it may not fit on the PC shelf, but really, just build yourself a smaller PC. I have a gaming PC that I built, and it fits just fine. But back to the desk! All of the measurements on IKEA's website are accurate, but I would like to add a few measurements for you, the reader (unfortunately in inches bc that's what my measuring tape is in): Bottom PC shelves: 9.75"W x 19"D, with ~20" height clearance Top shelf and Monitor Stand: 53.5"W x 11" D. With monitor stand at the lowest position, ~21" height clearance. Monitor stand can be placed at 2.5" higher intervals until the top rung, which leaves ~7" clearance above it. Side shelves: 8.75"W x 11"D. These are placed on the same holes as the monitor stand; if placed on the bottom rung, there is ~33.5" height clearance from the floor. From the top rung, ~47.75". Body Cutout: about 6" deep from edge of desk, and about 20" wide, with (eyeballing it) about a 105 degree angle to the turn (rounded edges, of course.) Clearance from floor to main desk: about 27.75". Metal bars/legs: ~1.5"W and 1"D, rounded. These bars are hollow, but feel very strong once entire desk is assembled. Back pegs: ~1" diameter knob with ~-.75" diameter pole, and are spaced about 11" apart. Cup holder and cable management holes: ~3" diameter. Assembly was very simple and easy. I did most of it by myself, but assistance in getting the whole thing flipped upright helped a lot in keeping it stable, so I recommend having a friend to help. The feet of the desk are difficult to push into the metal bars, so I recommend using a hammer to get them in all the way. The side panels of the desk are made of metal, which was a surprise, but it looks very nice. The particle board for the wooden parts of the desk feels very solid, and the paint/lacquer feels very nice to the touch. These pieces are also lined with a smooth, hard plastic edge to further prevent chipping. It feels like it will be more resistant to chipping and swelling than other particleboard desks I've had. The desk wipes clean easily with a damp cloth or disinfecting wipe. The back of the desk has a sort of staggered depth from the part that would touch the wall, allowing for cables to run smoothly down the back without getting pinched by the wall. These recessed areas are also perfect for attaching LED strips to for cool RGB lighting or back-lighting for the monitors to reduce eye strain. The white colorway is a bright white, not cream-tinted at all. This desk has a ton of "mod" and "hacking" support on sites like Thingiverse that allow for buying/3D-printing attachments for the desk that make the space even more functional, such as controller holders for the metal bars and additional shelf supports to use in the holes for additional side shelves. Overall I would recommend this desk to anyone who can afford it both monetarily and space-wise. It's a large desk, that's for sure, but all of the space is functional and not a bit of it feels wasted. It was easy to build, sturdy, and feels ergonomic to sit at.5
Nice deskJanetVery nice desk for the $. Fairly easy to put together.5
Computer deskPeterOverall happy with the desk, but the equipment shelves only provide just under 18.5" of clearance. This is just slightly less than my full size computer tower. Thus it doesn't fit. If the self was lower a .25 inch or the support bar for the desk top was .25 inch thinner I would of given it 5 stars.4

Excellent Desk for any ageTANGELAThis desk was easy to assemble and is very sturdy. It wipes down easy and great in any space.5
It"s a cool desk, but there"s other optionsStromboliiI've had this desk for about 2 years, and while I like it to an extent, it could definitely be better in key areas, such as the monitor stand. The monitor stand is really narrow for anything above two monitors, Even with two monitors, it really isn't the most practical not having one of them directly facing you instead of having them side to side or having one of them shoved behind to make room. After I moved, I decided to leave this desk behind and get a cheap Linnmon and haven't looked back.3
Great aesthetic, not super functionalcrodr24I recently bought this as a desk I could use for gaming and working from home. Overall, I like the way it looks and I like how you can customize certain aspects of it, but it just doesn't meet all my needs long term. It's hard to both place the monitors in a good position for your neck and still leave a good amount of workspace for notebooks/textbooks. It's perfect if you do everything electronically, although I personally am not the most happy with the quality of the wood. I have found that it chips and scratches easily.3
Designed for *casual* gamers by *casual* gamers.Jonathan 603• Super easy assembly 5/5 • Looks great! 5/5 • Solid construction quality 5/5 • Overall design and function ..... The lower shelves were not designed to accommodate a full-size computer tower. Industry standard full-sized towers are 24 tall. The lower shelves only have 20 of clearance. What a massive disappointment. Is that were taken into account and the upper metal frame was removable to allow for two large monitors, this would have been the ultimate gaming dream desk. I still like it enough to keep it... But, wow, what a missed opportunity.3
FREDDE Gaming desk, black, 72 7/8x29 1/8x57 1/2 "

Getting gaming right

If you’re not in to computer gaming yourself, perhaps you have children who are. Across the world, gaming is booming, and naturally IKEA should provide furniture designed for it. So how do players set up a game station to create that immersive gaming experience, what do they need to feel comfortable and supported while playing? When creating FREDDE desk we needed to know. How we found out? We asked a gamer.

David Wahl is not only one of our designers. He’s a gamer too. Of course he got the task. “When I started playing video games you'd have to make sure your friends were free, and someone’s house was free, then make your way down the street, console in hand to play,” David says. “Now, it's just as likely that you're playing with people in Shanghai or Sydney or Stockholm.”

Creating a gaming command central

One of the advantages of gaming's move beyond the TV or the family computer is that gamers are free to make a space customized to enjoy each game's full potential. “A big part of gaming is the immersive experience,” David says. “So my first move when designing FREDDE was to make a cut out in the desktop so that you could be closer to the screen and have almost a command central sort of feel, while also getting support for your arms at the same time.”

Made to be customized

FREDDE fits speakers, a 32" screen, or a couple of smaller screens on a height adjustable shelf. David also had a personal wish. “I used to love playing driving simulator games where you would often use pedals, the same as a car,” he says. “I always found it annoying if you had cables or other things in the way when you were driving so I made sure to design the desk with an unobstructed space for pedals on FREDDE.”

A designer's proudest moment

David is proud to see the gaming community making the desk their own. “If you do an image search for FREDDE it's fantastic to see how people are adapting it to create their own perfect game space, which is exactly in tune with what I hoped.”
