Connection and Restart issuesNathanielProduct works great, when it works. love the form factor, AAA cells, number of options in homekit (6 scenes!). Product fails to deliver long term though - 2 issues. 1) when batteries are removed and reinserted, the product fails to connect to my system again. 2) The product intermittently fails to operate properly, with button presses not registered by homekit, with the issue later spontaneously resolving. Sad that these issues are present, it’s otherwise a great product. Hopefully a firmware update will fix.2
Home AssistantKellySimple and functional. I use it with Home Assistant (and Connect ZBT-2). There’s a blueprint that makes it easy to use of in all kinds of ways.5
Problem after problemMarcoThese are the single WORST smart product I have ever used. Without question. They do not stay connected at all. My Alexa (Matter over Thread) will recognize and connect to the Bilresa and the it disappears. Pair it again, and it disappears. I bought 7 of these and the same experience on all of them. The door/window sensors are just as bad. Bought four door sensors and every one of them connects and then fails shortly afterwards.1
It’s pretty simple to configure but with the right directionsRamiroDon’t follow the manual coming with the product it is wrong and confusing, you need to click the center button 4 times quickly and the light will dimm and that’s it. You are done.4
Great - when it worksStephenBe prepared to spend several hours trying to set this up. While the IKEA Home Smart app may see it as a device as soon as you add batteries, trying to get this to pair correctly with Matter - including Apple Home - took two days of trying, and it frequently goes "Unreachable". Matter is amazing when it works - this can control *anything* you have added to Apple Home - but do not count on it when you need it most. If IKEA can fix the connections issues, this will be a game changer. Note: If you're used to the previous generation of smart switches that included a metal "dock" with holes for mounting, this only comes with a very thin metal plate with two double-sided sticky mounts. I was rather disappointed by that downgrade.4
Simple and reliableLaneThis is the best smart button I've ever tested. It connected extremely quickly and directly in the Apple Home app. No Ikea app required. It has stayed connected and worked flawlessly ever since. It works over thread, so no wifi connections needed. I have an Apple Homepod that works as a base station, so no addition base stations needed either. I highly recommend.5
Love!LauraWanted a button for a lamp across the room. Could not ignore the amazing price. It was simple to set up and has worked flawlessly. Recommend.5
Low chance of successRyanSo far only 1 in 3 have connected to matter.1
Cheap, good and works with apple homeKenjiThese are probably the cheapest way to interact with apple home automations through physical buttons. It pairs directly through the home app and so far has worked flawlessly. They act as 2 separate buttons and you can assign up to 3 actions to each (single, double and long press). Another positive is that not only it works with regular AAA batteries but also with rechargeable ones (1.2V) which is not always the case with modern gadgets. I’m very pleased with them.5
Good Product - No InstructionsAnonymous reviewerThe Bilresa control was included in our full set of cabinets to control the under-cabinet lights. The instructions in the box show pictures of how to install the batteries....and that's it. There is a QR code that will send you to some equally banal and not particularly helpful documents. After extensive searching, I found a video featuring an independent IKEA cabinet installer who through much trial and error figured how to pair the control with the lights. Works great now that I know how, just not sure how IKEA expects the average person to figure this out.4
Rough connectivity at first but quickly paired and works well!IanThis took multiple tries to pair with my system. I needed to use both suggested combinations of 4 rapid button presses, as well as holding the button until the solid red light came on. However, since finally pairing, it's been flawless. I am still deciding what functionalities to assign it.5
Fantastic matter button; rock solidAmySolid offering. With a reliable network (~8 thread router devices all connected to the other), this button has proven to be rock solid. Connecting was not perfect out of the box, but a factory reset prior to connecting to Home Assistant worked every time. I find this to be true of most matter devices.5
Great product BrentExcellent product that works great. Also, the price is unbeatable!5
Can't pair with Eero or Echo DotMagnusSupposed to be Matter compatible but will not pair. So useless.1
Not bad, needs subtle tweakingMathewComparing this to the older Rodret or Strybar the first noticeable thing is response time. The Zigbee remotes respond almost instantly meanwhile this Thread device has a noticeable half to one-second delay before the bulb or plug responds. Its not a dealbreaker but...a bit of a letdown a newer piece of tech is slower than what its replacing. I like the design, its cute, simple and the price is fantastic. Hopefully in time firmware updates can speed up response times. In terms of setup, this is the third new Matter/Thread IKEA device i've had an issue setting up. Aside my Dirigera hub, there is also a Homepiod in my house which also acts as a thread router. The IKEA ecosystem seems to have problems when theres another router nearby even if the Dirigera is your main hub. I have to always unplug my Homepod if I want to add one of these devices and that's frankly annoying.4
Call for helpStevenMy wife recently had surgery and during her recovery at home this device turned out to be the ideal way to call for help. I set it up in Google home with an automation that allows her to press a button to broadcast a message around our house that I could hear and come to her aid. This wasn't what I planned to use it for originally. But now that I understand how it works with Google home, I'll probably order several more.5
Connection IssuesRyanI purchased two BILRESA switches. The first one connected to my network with no issues. I added it through Google Home (Matter), which then connects it to the Thread Border Router. The second one wouldn't connect until the fifth or sixth attempt. After it finally did, my other Thread devices started having connection issues. I figured I just got a defective unit so I returned it to the store and bought two more. Those two are as bad as the one I returned. I can get them to connect, eventually, but it takes several attempts and they have to be right next to the Thread router. Conversely, I have four MYGGBETT contact switches and two KLIPPBOX water leak sensors, which all work fine. The only time they seem to have issues is when I have a faulty BILRESA switch on the network. The first switch I set up is still working fine, which makes it even more frustrating that the others are so problematic. The only reason I rated them two stars and not just one, is because they're very inexpensive.2
Amazing value, huge potentialChristianI'm more knowledgeable about smart home than invested in it. Have been waiting for a reasonably-priced lineup like the IKEA Matter collection. This switch is my first taste of it, and I'm getting very excited. The switch is solid, simple, and elegant. Paired easily with Apple Home on the first try.5
Great idea and price, failure on implementationWrayIt seems it is pot luck whether you can get it to connect, even with an IKEA hub. I tried SmartThings, Alexa and Home Assistant. I got it to connect in the first two, but it was unreliable in SmartThings and Alexa simply doesn't support it's button functionality. They don't do anything unless you create a flow or routine for them, so they aren't plug and play. Home assistant did not work, and the problem appears in the matter over thread connectivity which fails most of the time. When it gets that far, it fails to connect to Home Assistant as the last step. I think part of the problem is that my eero routers do not have the capability to split the 2.4 Ghz band as a separate band and so many devices only work on 2.4Ghz. Also they (mesh network) are the thread border routers. According to Verge, IKEA knows about the issues but at this point little is known about the root issue. Is it matter, thread connectivity or IKEA's implementation of those standards.2
Good but with as few caveatsJulioIt works fine, it was easy to pair with Apple's Homekit. Since it used 2 AAA batteries, it's a little bulky. The magnet provided is not strong enough, so if you hit the remote it drops - I had to skip the magnet mount solution. Also, another problem with the new entire Matter-compatible line is that you need a tool to open the battery doors. Why? The price is very good, though. I recommend it, bought several to use along with other automation solutions.4
