These are AWESOME!!!Eric M.Got these for my nerd room. The wall I put them on was 128” wide. 2 sets of these side by side is 126”—they look like they were built for the room! My only word of caution would be that customizing these babies is fun and addicting. After I put the doors on, I wanted lights, so I added the sky drag lights. Then I thought the light would travel much better through glass shelves, so I added those. Then I changed out the wooden knobs with some brushed metal pulls that match the hardware on the doors to the room. Now I’m stalking the IKEA site for when the height extensions come back in stock. LOVE these shelves. And on an unrelated note, Billy Oxberg is a great alias to give people when you don’t want to use your real name.5
Perfect for our spaceAJAI needed a shallow storage option for an area that I wanted to use as a linen closet. These are perfect.5
Nice appearanceBRUCEI like the finished appearance of the bookcases with glass doors and they look nice. Some of the construction methods I question such as how the shelves are held up by the inverted cleats and holes in the shelves at the very end, not all shelves sit completely flat. The cams that are used are plastic and brittle so they are very easy to over tighten and snap without a lot of pressure. The screws for the door mounts that screw into bookcase do not have points making it harder than it needs to be to screw them in. Oddly the screws to anchor the bookcase to the wall have points. Since they are not very deep you will want to anchor them to the wall as they are wobbly on our hardwood floors. We bought a total of 5 Billy bookcases and all are like this. I know my floor is not perfectly level so this is advice for most people where the houses have settled over the years and do not have perfectly level floors. They also scuff very easily.3
Easy to assemble and veryMariaEasy to assemble and very nice look5
Love themKimI have bought 3 of these. They fit perfect in my hallway. I have given one to each if my girls. They have displayed nick nacks n pictures. Doirs below they have put clothes yhat won't fit there drawers. Its perfect. You see what you want people to see n whst you don't.5
Billy OxbergLINDAI love, love, love this cabinet. It was out of stock for so long. I was on line every week for months to see if it was delivered. I was so happy to receive a text it was in. I got on line and immediately checked out. It was delivered in a few days and a Task Rabbit young man put it together for me the next day. It's the right color and size and already filled with my vision of how to utilize the space!5

We love the look andSherWe love the look and feel of our new book case display cabinets. We bought the corner unit and the toppers for all 4 sections. We also bought the lights and I am in love with the lights and what it has done for our living room5
BillyRAFAELI have bought several Billy bookcases over the years. Unfortunately, there has been a progressive drop in the quality, both in materials and finish. The price has not change dramatically, so I suspect they decided to sacrifice quality over price.3
It matched the bookcase IMaraIt matched the bookcase I bought 20 years ago. It looks perfect. Assembly was easy.5
FlimsyAdrienneWe bought this to use as a china cabinet for our dining room only because THEY WERE OUT OF STOCK OF EVERYTHING ELSE, AS USUAL. It looks nice enough but is flimsy and feels like it could fall over easily. Classic cheap IKEA, and now with Covid, they can't even keep their stuff in stock. The love affair has worn off.3
FabulousTERESALook great, love them!5
I moved into a studioSHEILAI moved into a studio apt. I purchased two, placing them side by side. I have a lot of books, some irreplaceable, they look wonderful and are protected. I live on the ocean front, and moisture and dirty sand blows in even through screens.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet attached to things like particleboard to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak, and beech, and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.
