Great bookshelfchristina5 stars! Excellent!5
Perfect as alwaysDANAWe purchased multiple Billy bookcases - enough to cover a whole wall in our house. None were damaged or missing pieces, and I was able to assemble them all in an afternoon. We live 3 hours from IKEA but the trip is always worth it.5
BUILT IN CREATED - CHECKleezaI created a 16.5 foot wall-to-wall built in bookcase entertainment center using 9 BILLYs of different sizes. Assembled, trimmed, caulked and painted. It looks amazing! Too bad there's no pic upload feature. Not bad for this senior gal!5
DeliveryJamieThe bookshelves are awesome. The delivery and stocking the items was horrible!3
Better Than ExpectedDarleneThis was the only bookcase my IKEA store had in stock. Begrudgingly bought it. Lighter than I wanted. But it works colorwise and feels more solid than other Billy’s.5
Sturdy easy to assembleDeanSturdy easy to assemble4
Makes the room biggerMary J.Having the bookcases actually made the room look bigger. And having the corner brackets allow me to use a corner that otherwise would have been dead space5
Not hard to assemble atMERCINot hard to assemble at all. It would be a great help if there were marka to direct tacks on back board. Otherwise very easy and it looks amazing4
Good product but came with bugs!DrSusan72I love IKEA but my shelving units arrived in cardboard boxes that were infested with tiny bugs that have spread through my house and will require an exterminator! We did not realize they were in the packaging until it was in our home for an hour and by then it was too late. Ikea has no way of contacting them about any issues, let alone this! Very disappointed.1
Love, love love!Christine2020Bought these to create built-ins. So simple to assemble and after a few modifications, LOVE how they turned out!!5
Perfect Solution!JodiTI knew the Billy bookcases we purchased were ideal for displaying our glass collectibles. We installed puck lights and had our local glass company cut glass shelves (utilizing the clips that came with the wooden shelves provided). We also updated the hardware, as many customers recommended in the reviews. Well the bookcases look amazing and we are going to purchase two additional bookcases. I also recommend you use the Click and Collect feature on Ikea's website. When we arrived at Ikea, all the boxes were on a cart waiting for pickup! We were in and out in less than 10 minutes.5
Great book shelvespamela74Yes, it is three sets that fit together. Easy peazy! I'm about to purchase again. Simple picture instructions but pay attention to image details. Not one flaw or peice of missing hardware. I'm so impressed.5
Red WaveFolks should read the entire description and all reviews, before purchasing. This item comes in 3 boxes, which indicates 3 separate units. 3 units are easier to transport and combine as a single unit, or can be installed as individual units. Remember to anchor to the wall!5
Exactly what I needed!bearandbertsmomMy room called for book cases of this width. I added doors and it worked out perfect. Exactly how I wanted. Not sure why people couldn't tie them together. You just used the included woodscrew and go through one of the shelf holes you weren't using. It worked great. Mine are all aligned perfectly with their doors and look fantastic.5
I like these a lotAnonymous reviewerI personally like these shorter shelves (width not height) they allow me to organize my books better and will prevent bowing that some longer shelves can have. I don't know why these got bad reviews, people obviously don't do their research before buying anything or they would see that 1. this is a set of 3 because they also sell them singularly. 2. it says This furniture must be secured to the wall with the enclosed wall anchoring device. so when someone writes that this were upset that they didn't know they needed to be secured they didn't read the initial directions. Anyway these work great for me and I would buy more is I needed more.5
Three Separate bookshelvesJuieThe description of this “bookshelf”’is completely false. It’s actually three towers with no way of attaching them to each other. They’re very tall so unless they get anchored together and to a wall they will fall over easily. I wanted a one piece unit for my store. Not three towers.1
MisleadingSherylThis is actually three narrow bookcases with no way to lash them together. Misleading. Will return.1

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet attached to things like particleboard to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak, and beech, and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.
