GREAT BOOKSHELFZhi D.Took 1.5 hours to assemble it. I use it as a divider for my studio. Love it!5
it's prettyKatheknobs are cheap appearing & cabinets not very deep for much storage.3
Billy BookcaseJanetLove my Billy Bookcase. I got 4 units and built a wall of shelves looks incredible!5
Love my BillyCatherineLove my New Billy Bookshelf, we turned it into a Diy built-in! It seamlessly blends in with the rest of the house. Plus, I know I have my own home library for all of my books. However, two of the shelves came without a finished edge.. So we had to spackle the shelfs edge to hide the wood. Also a little disappointed the billy doors don't shut flush there is a gap between the two doors. Other than that they are great!! I highly recommend researching the proper way to paint them… if you are planning on it.3
It's a classic for aJonathanIt's a classic for a reason. Sturdy, clean-looking, and goes with anything.5

Tips for assembly of Billy bookcases.Philip D.The 93.25-inch height is achieved by a 13.75-inch extension added to the top of the 'whole' 79.5-inch bookcase. Look closely at measurements drawing. The taller height extension is not integrated, not constructed as one piece of furniture. Rather, it is a 13.75 inch add on to the shorter 79.5-inch bookcase of this model. This extension adds labor to the assembly process and can be a bit unwieldy. Depending on ceiling height and condition, the 93.25 height may not appear as finished or 'square' or fit as well as you had imagined. The shorter 79.5-inch model might be the better choice for some. For assembly, consider a rubber mallet. The softer kind, not the hard plastic kind. You will need the mallet for a very soft, light, gentle tap, tap at times, particularly when getting the hardware fully into the holes. Do not use a hard tool; do not hammer with force. One person can assemble this alone but will need a helper from time to time with "holding" and lifting. Hope this helps. --Philip5
Great for a book loverANTONELLAThis was an amazing product and is great for someone who loves books like myself. The only issue we had was that some of the materials on the back are a little flimsy and cracked really easily. That was my only big concern with them. Is that for the price? I feel like it should’ve been a little bit more sturdy in the back, but I would still buy these in a heartbeat again because my books look amazing on it and for the price you really can’t go wrong my dad was able to easily reinforce the back and fix the cracks mind you the back is just a piece of thicker cardboard like material .4
Great bookcasesANGELIQUEI put these in my sewing room to store my fabric. These worked perfectly!5
Great productBenAssembly was easy. With the extenders and the corner shelving - they look like built ins! Very pleased.5
bookcaseCYNTHIAhad it delivered NEVER again ! hired a young man who was great but a little pricey LOVE the bookcase - so if I can't get it myself I will not buy love how it looks All the room I needed for books & display other things5
best on the marketMarcuseasily one of the best bookshelves on the market. Very easy to build and great value. very sturdy.5
Bought 2MorganBought these for my craft room and they were perfect!5
Sturdy and Beautiful!AllyI love how customizable the Billy bookcases are! They are easy to build and I was surprised at how sturdy they are. That being said, I was disappointed that they were advertised as being 93" tall when in reality they just send a height extension with a standard bookcase. I was excited to not have the seam of the extension, so that was a bit of a letdown, but they still look great. One of my bookcases is also about 0.25" higher on one side which makes it uneven with the shelf next to it. The delivery process was a nightmare, but I'd still highly recommend!4
Billy bookcase assemblyPeggyThe assembly was easy and quick. Every hole matched up when putting together. I recommend checking out YouTube videos for tips and hints to make the process go quick and smoothly.5
awesome productTerriawesome product5
BookcaseDouglasThe product is wonderful, it is worth the extra cost to get the natural finish. It was easy to put up and it looks great in the kid's playroom. Ikea however has been a thorn. I had wanted to talk to someone about purchasing the product or picking it up at the store, but it was impossible to get in touch with someone. I had gone into the store and that will likely never happen again. The help in the store obviously did not want to deal with me asking questions. I had purchased a few other items and was sent in the warehouse to fethc4
Love the bookcaseJAIDEEP A.We recently purchased this bookcase. We love the overall look, the capacity and the sturdiness.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet attached to things like particleboard to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak, and beech, and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.
