So disappointed in current qualityDavidI have been buying Ikea furniture and accessories for 35+ years. Their quality was always good and their furniture of decent quality for what it cost. Recently though, I've seen the quality diminish with the materials becoming lower quality. I'm sure it is an attempt to balance quality and price, but they have just failed on the quality side of things. In the last Besta cabinets I purchased (11/29/23) the locking cams are plastic vs the metal of 10 years ago. This has resulted in frames that are not solidly locked together and rigid. The 47" cabinets I purchased rock side to side at least 1/4", even with shelves installed. I checked the cams and they were locked. I'm sure they will say if you screw them to the wall, they can't move, but that is not my application. I will fix it by gluing in reinforcements to the back, but I should not have to do that. Also the shelf material is much cheaper now. I will not be purchasing these any longer, sadly.1
Good dealRigobertoI have use this ikea product multiple time and it has never let me down.5
Great piece for the price!KareemahWe use this piece to creat our own built in shelves. They look beautiful with the doors added to it.5
The family ❤️s it.DagsThe family ❤️s it.5
Great storageMelodyI bought this for office storage, it works great 😊5
No structural stabilityTimThe vertical frame is a wobbly mess because the only structural support that keeps if from shifting is an ill-fitting piece of fiberboard. It's basically a hollow cube that rocks and shifts. As the instructions note, you need to screw in the middle shelf to prevent movement, but that doesn't help much. It desperately needs a solid back, not a piece of cardboard that slides in and moves around. Do not recommend!1
goodKaI bought two more5
Great display shelfRobertI used three of these units on the wall above our stair landing that is visible to our living room. The price was reasonable since we caught it on sale. Since this was a wall installation we had quite a few extra parts.5
One of the worst products of ikeaJebarsonI have spent a fortune in Ikea and this is by far the worst product you could buy. For $65, you would expect it to be a bit more sturdy than what it is. The product wont even stand on its own without swinging left and right. I have no idea why Ikea cannot atleast provide a right angle brace to keep the product from swinging until you attach it to the wall.1
Does the job, but needs better hardwareFlorenciaI bought this to act as a sort of bedside table for family member, who sleeps on a recliner and needs a flat-edged table where he can clamp the support for his CPAP machine. The Besta was the perfect height, and also holds plenty of his books. However, the hardware for it was markedly worse than the hardware for IKEA units I've bought in years past. All eight of the cam lock screws stripped while I was struggling to get them into place, and I saw tiny bits of metal flaking off as I turned them. It would have been impossible to complete assembly with the tools given; I had to grab an adjustable wrench and turn the screws that way.3
Fair product, No very good qualityRainierVery low quality product from recycled materials, don’t expect to last for many years.3
Serves my purposeMaryEasy assembly and clean lines.5
Beautiful!DianaVery easy to assemble. All the pieces fit perfectly! A nice sturdy piece that holds my things beautifully! I’m very pleased!5
FrustratingTinaImpossible to screw in the screw pegs. Tried for hours. The instructions say not to use a drill. Used a hand screwdriver for hours. Finally gave in and used a drill. By that time the screws were stripped and the drill doesn’t even work. At a loss for what to do.1
Nice designKarenWe were doing multiple, some assembly required, furnishings. IKEA was the easiest and my favorite in looks when it was over.5
Bought for TV standLindaBought for a TVStand.5

Great value!KyleNot the easiest install for hanging them, but if you’re handy, it’s a breeze.5
Wobbly and had to assembleAngelaI’ve assembled probably 50 pieces of IKEA furniture in my lifetime and never had as hard a time like I did with this thing. First off, it’s SUPER WOBBLY side to side. Back panel does nothing to help stabilize. The glass door was a nightmare to install. Screws didn’t fit in metal screw holes. And the door is crooked because the wobbly cabinet leans to the left. I will have to go but some L brackets to straighten it out.2
Besta CabinetsTracy L.Not the same quality as the older ones however customer service was wonderful executing replacements and then ultimately a return.1

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is constructed board?

We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fiberboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
