Brighter than you would expectMikeFirst off, I never write reviews unless something highly exceeded or failed to meet my expectations.
I was looking for a pair of ceiling fixtures to replace some that were 40 years old. Trying to replace a cheap contractor grade single bulb (now 60W equivalent LED) and glass globe.
These exceeded my expectations, they are bright, clean, low profile, and only $7.
I know that you get what you pay for, but I am hoping to get years of use out of them, and when they fail, I will simply replace them (not too difficult, just a couple of screws and wire nuts).
I was choosing between these, the KATTARP ($60, but 2 bulbs lights), and 2 bulb fixture from the big box hardware stores (2 for $30).
My only hesitation is that I believe that the diffuser will yellow with age. Time will tell.
I dinged it one star on the appearance - I wish that it was truly flush with the ceiling (there are little dimples that offset it about 1/8" inch).
Nice bright light but terrible to installRandyBright light and that's the good part. The cover is very flimsy plastic, you can crack it easily though not a deal breaker. But the installation was unnecessarily made hard, it's not the standard fixtures installation. The wire sheathing is thick enough to make it difficult to install.
I have them all over the houseDenaI started buying 3 of these for hallway lighting and ended up putting the in every room with overhead lighting. I lve the simple design and low profile, not to mention the price.

Doesn't work with motion sensor light switch.JerryPrice is low but this doesn't work correctly with a motion sensor light switch. After no motion, the light goes from bright to very dim, but not off. It stays at this dim level indefinitely. Using the "off" switch on the motion detector light switch is the only way to turn off the dim light.
Installation is not as easy as it could be. The holding plate requires screws to be fully removed. And you can't easily see where the light base fits into this plate. My light came with no instructions or mounting screws. Bought this many years ago so it's being donated to a thrift store.

Incredible price for solid lighting solutionBenWe needed temporary lighting for our bedrooms. This was a good solution, and the price simply cannot be beat. At first, I was worried it wasn't bright enough but after installing it, the brightness was perfect for a bedroom.

Waayyy TOO bright white, can't dim or change the bulbs!SuzanneOurs look NOTHING like the yellow-glowing light in the pics. Ours give the brightest, blueish-cast white-light (think industrial/workroom). They're in our halls, and it feels like we're on the white side of the moon! (It makes the tiniest texture in the walls look like moon craters, and my son says it’s like God himself is outside his closed door). Whomever commented that these aren’t bright...they can’t possibly have the same lights we do! IKEA’s website says NOTHING about lumens, strength or the blue-white tone of these lights, nor that the LED bulbs are permanently attached in the fixture and impossible to change or dim. We paid to have them installed, installer discarded the packaging, so we can’t return them and we’re stuck with years of this. Or, have to pay to replace, days after installing, eat the cost of the lights and installation and pay AGAIN for new lights and new installation. Come on, IKEA, put the full product details on your site so people know what they’re buying!
