IKEA Southeast Asia Turnover Reaches THB 29 billion
Swedish home furnishing retailer growing as it meets a new generation of customers
BANGKOK – Sales at our IKEA stores in Southeast Asia topped THB 25 billion for the first time this year, reflecting healthy growth for a big-box retail business that is meeting a new generation of shoppers and creating fresh passion for home furnishing.
Our more than 3,400 co-workers met around 98million visitors in our stores and centres, rolled out e-commerce in Thailand, embarked on construction projects in new markets and helped sell 113,000 BILLY bookcases – along with thousands of other affordable home furnishings that make everyday life at home a little better.
As one of 12 IKEA franchisees around the world, the turnover posted by our eight large IKEA stores in
Southeast Asia – including two in Bangkok plus a Pick-Up and Delivery Point in Phuket – contribute to
the total result released Wednesday by the global franchisor, Inter IKEA Group. Our financial year runs
from Sept. 1 2018 – Aug. 31 2019.
For the fifth year in a row, IKEA arranged the soft toy drawing competition and invited children from around the world to draw the soft toy of their dreams. The 5 most unique creations would be turned into real soft toys and become the limited-edition collection called SAGOSKATT. The response was quite staggering with over 87,000 pieces of art being submitted.
Eventually, our jury settled on five winners whose creations included a pink unicorn living in the clouds, a rainbow coloured shark travelling the seas, a mischievous blue monster called Monster, A hedgehog-, dinosaur- and monster hybrid with a passion for tropical fruit and a dotted seal who loves to play with his best friends, fish.
This year’s Winter collection has never been more prepared to prepare you for that intense, relaxing, social, solitary, cold, warm period we call the winter. Adorn your entire home in festive decor and invite everyone over—or simply light a tea candle and escape alone. More than anything, being ready for winter is a state of mind.
Sales start October 2018
New products - October
This October launch is about making room for playfulness. It’s about playing with conventions and following one’s own mind. The mood is fashionably eclectic, the colours rich and patterns go from florals to chequered.
Among the highlights are products for making a cosy and functional living room, like a super-comfortable sofa family and a storage and table series made with sustainably sourced pine. To light up the home, there are lamps and a shade for different types of lighting needs and looks. We’re also launching a whole new range of office furniture designed for healthy working including ergonomic chairs, sit/stand desks and office storage with new functions. In addition, the month welcomes a bunch of patterned cushions and cushion covers, quirky decoration objects, an upholstered chair, lyocell rugs and UTZ-certified chocolate. Enjoy!
Meet GRATULERA, the limited edition vintage collection celebrating 75 years of IKEA design. Do you remember the first KLIPPAN sofa, or what about the colourfully red BJURÅN chair? It’s time to go retro with hand-selected favourites from the 50-60’s, 70-80’s and the 90-00’s. Launching at three different dates, the GRATULERA editions bring back some of your (and our) fondest memories of IKEA.

THE IKEA CATALOGUE 2019
The 2019 IKEA Catalogue is here, and we’ve got some big news. We’ve always included inspirational single room settings in our catalogue. But this year, we’ve switched things up by creating whole homes. These spaces were designed for fictional families but are full of real ideas and inspiration.
