10 year guarantee. Read about the terms in the guarantee brochure.

The kitchen mixer tap’s sensor function is simple, hygienic and practical – perfect when you just want to fill a glass with water or rinse off your hands when cooking.

The sensor is discreetly placed on the mixer tap’s side to prevent it from accidentally turning on when you work in the kitchen.

The water flow turns off automatically after 10 seconds if the sensor does not detect any movement, so you never risk wasting water.

The mixer tap has both a sensor and a manual lever. The lever is practical when filling a pot or other large container with water.

The sensor's cleaning mode means that the mixer tap turns off for 2 minutes, so you can wipe the mixer tap without turning the water on.

This is a durable mixer tap that you can use for many years, since the hard, ceramic discs withstand the friction that always occurs when you change the temperature of the water.

TÄMNAREN Kitchen mixer tap w sensor, stainless steel colour

Obeys the slightest movement

Who wouldn’t like kitchen tasks to be easier and more hygienic? TÄMNAREN kitchen mixer tap with sensor functions is a step on the way. You can turn the water on and off with a slight hand movement ― without touching the mixer tap. But what if water starts running every time your hands move by the sink? The solution was quite simple: we placed the sensor on the side. This improved the look of it, too.

Product developer Giorgia Nervi demonstrates with her hand how to turn the water on. "Sensor technology is more hygienic in the kitchen since you don't need to touch the kitchen mixer tap with your hands,” says Giorgia. “It also saves water thanks to the sensor mode which gives a reduced flow of water when compared to using the lever."

Turns itself off

With the same simple movement, Giorgia turns the water off, or a timer automatically stops the water flow anyway after 10 seconds. That was an important detail. "Imagine you’re filling a pot with water and then the phone rings or something starts burning on the hob,” Giorgia explains. “Suddenly two minutes have passed and many litres of water have been wasted down the drain ― and all for nothing." Giorgia and the team tested until they found the ultimate time. "We tested filling different glasses with water, and with the flow we chose it takes about 10 seconds to fill a medium-sized glass."

Sensor in a new location

A sensor is usually located at the front of a mixer tap. Why? "Think about everything you do around the sink without wanting to use water, like cooling down a pot of soup or peeling vegetables. You don't want the mixer tap to start running suddenly.” We placed the sensor on the side instead. It gives the tap a cleaner look, too. TÄMNAREN contributes to better hygiene and less water consumption ― while also reducing energy consumption to heat hot water. "It's simply easier now to be more sustainable in the kitchen," Giorgia concludes.

Material

What is brass?

Brass is a mixture of copper and zinc and the amounts vary depending on the desired properties. Copper is usually the main material and the more zinc you add results in the brass being harder and stronger, but also results in it being more difficult to shape and less resistant to rust. Brass can be recycled as brass but never into its original metals. At IKEA we use brass for things like knobs, handles, frames and taps.

Function solution

Obeys the slightest movement

Life in the kitchen often revolves around the sink. It’s where we rinse vegetables, do the washing up and wash our hands. With a kitchen mixer tap with sensor function, kitchen tasks are easier and more hygienic since you can turn the water on and off with a slight hand movement ― without touching the mixer tap. But it's not ideal if water starts running every time your hands move by the sink. How was this solved? We simply placed the sensor on the mixer tap’s side.
