Made by food lovers, for food lovers
It's easy to be a little spellbound watching a chef in action. To see chicken breasts seared into golden browns, richly coloured soups blip and bubble, or creamy risottos glisten with savoury deliciousness, it's tempting to think there's a little magic in their pots and pans.
That's why before getting started on the premium quality SENSUELL cookware, we worked with professional chefs and food lovers to learn what features they find essential for culinary magic. As well as how to make sure you always get that perfectly cooked golden chicken breast.
Out of the restaurant and into the home
It just takes a flick through a few TV channels, or a glance at a social media feed to notice our appetite for cooking is growing. From an activity that once was a little hidden away, there's now a fully baked appreciation for making and enjoying food together as we become more inspired about what we cook and eat.
It makes sense then, that as we improve our recipe game, we need the right equipment to help us master the ultimate burger or ramen soup. Which is where SENSUELL pots and pans come in.
Learning from the professionals
“We have a lot of people involved with SENSUELL who are passionate about cooking," says SENSUELL product developer Lennie Malmgren. "Before working at IKEA, I studied as a chef myself so this was an exciting project to work on."
It stands to reason that if you want to make expert cookware you should speak with the pros first. Before getting started on the range, the SENSUELL team spent a year speaking with professional chefs to get their take on how the pots and pans should look, work and be constructed. Naturally, the demands were high. The range had to be functional, incredibly durable, and work extremely well with heat.
Working well with heat
How well a pot or pan heats up comes largely down to the metal it's made from and its thickness. If a pan heats up too quickly you run the risk of burning your omelette, as Lennie explains.
"The result you get from a pot or pan is really down to how it's constructed,” He says. "So for SENSUELL we decided to work with stainless steel for its heat holding properties, and at a thickness that's versatile enough to cook just about any recipe."
The benefit of using stainless steel that is thicker than your typical home cookware, is that it heats up consistently without hot spots or cold patches, meaning your ingredients are cooked more evenly. And a weightier construction means they're more than durable enough for a restaurant-level workload – or say decades worth of dinner parties.
Cooking like the pros
If you haven't used restaurant quality stainless steel pans before there's just one technique you need to remember. Start the pan on high heat, then add some butter or oil before lowering the heat to halfway before you start cooking. This will ensure your ingredients brown evenly and won't stick to the pan. No matter what recipe you're mastering next.
"I find it exciting to think that these pots and pans can help people perfect their recipes and enjoy cooking even more. Lennie says. "And that you can keep on enjoying cooking for years to come because they're built to last.”
