SAVING ENERGY
We’ve gone all-in with LED
Energy savings, exciting new designs, better light quality, lower environmental impact and a 20-year lifespan; new LED lighting is so much better than old incandescent lighting. So, we’ve switched our entire lighting range to LEDs. This really does mean everything, from bright and accurate kitchen lighting through to warm and cosy bedroom lighting. And don’t worry; we have a LED bulb for all your existing light fittings. Welcome to the new revolution in lighting. Welcome to the brighter world of LED.
Did you know?
LEDs are so tiny they can be built into almost anything, creating loads of new design possibilities.

We’ve gone all-in! Now all the lighting we sell at IKEA is LED - better for your home and the environment.

RYET - a lot of shine for a little money
Introducing the IKEA RYET LED bulb. Being LED, the bulb consumes approximately 85% less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs and lasts 15 times longer. So you won’t just save on your energy bill and reduce waste, you’ll spend less time changing bulbs too!
It was IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad himself who posed the challenge to the product development team to find a way to lower the price of LED bulbs without compromising on quality or how long they last. And the team managed to reach the incredible low price of €0.99.

A brighter life at home with LED
Lighting is a vital part of life at home. It makes our homes safer, cosier and more welcoming. And it allows us to do things we couldn’t otherwise do. But around a quarter of the world’s energy consumption is used for lighting. That’s a lot of energy. At IKEA, we want to help you live a more sustainable life at home. To reduce your energy consumption without making sacrifices. To make living a sustainable life at home easier, beautiful and more affordable. And tiny LEDs are an easy way to make a big difference.
LED lights use 85% less energy and lasts for up to 20 years. Their small size opens up a whole new world of exciting lighting design possibilities. And the light quality is so good you can have both functional and atmospheric lighting in just one light. So not only are LEDs making life at home more sustainable, they’re making it more beautiful too.

Saving energy and money
Also, there are simple changes you can make that can lower your energy bills even further, like using steamer inserts when you cook or washing your clothes in cold water and hanging them out to dry. All these small actions add up! Download our laundry-day energy-saving tips PDF
Saving energy can be as simple as using energy in the most efficient way
An energy-saving solution can be as simple as a lid on a pot or a STABIL steamer.
Upgrading your refrigerator or freezer to a newer model can save energy
A cool way to save
Replacing a refrigerator or freezer with a new, energy-efficient model saves money and energy. A new fridge that has been “A++ rated” in Europe can use 40% less energy than a A- or B-class fridge. But you shouldn’t have to pay more to save energy. So we made our entire range of fridges and freezers A+ and A++ rated in Europe, and sell them at low prices so more people can afford them. Induction technology enable you to use energy in a more efficient way, saving time and money
Go ahead, watch your water boil
What’s the magic behind induction technology? It’s basically a magnetic field technology that only heats the pan – not the hob or surrounding air – so only a small amount of heat is wasted. Two liters of water can be brought to boil in just five minutes on an induction hob, while it takes as much as 10 minutes on a glass-ceramic hob. You’ll be seeing a lot more induction hobs from us in the future! See all induction hobs
Saving energy with textiles
There are lots of simple ways to save energy at home and a couple of them only require a trip to the store. Since many homes lose heat through the floors, area rugs are the unsung heroes of low-cost, quick-fix energy solutions. See all area rugs
You can also save energy and regulate indoor temperatures by using textiles to insulate your window and door openings. Curtains block the hot sun in summer and help keep the heat inside during winter. See all curtains

SAVING WATER
Tapping into more ways to use less water
Experts say that less than three percent of the water on Earth is fresh water. We can all contribute to conserving this precious, shared resource. That’s why we offer kitchen taps, such as ELVERDAM, that reduce water consumption by up to 40%, bathroom taps that reduce consumption up to 50%, and we have improved the water efficiency of many of our dishwashers and washing machines.

Every drop counts
To help save water while doing the dishes by hand, we have developed GRUNDVATTNET range of sink accessories. Simply fill up the washing-bowls with water instead of keeping the tap running. You’ll be using much less water than before.

You don’t need to keep the tap running. Save water with IKEA GRUNDVATTNET range of sink accessories.
GOOD TO KNOW

By turning off the water while brushing your teeth you can save up to 40 litres of water every day.
Water and energy saving showers
All our showers are equipped with water and energy-efficient shower heads and hand held showers. This is achieved by having a flow regulator, which reduces the water flow. Even though it delivers less water, you won’t notice any difference in the water pressure. You’ll save up to 30% water and energy compared to a shower without a flow regulator.
Everyone deserves a refreshing shower experience every day. And what can be more revitalising than knowing you can save water (and money on your water and energy bills) at the same time?
Save water with IKEA VOXNAN shower - comes with water efficient shower heads and hand held showers. A flow regulator in IKEA BROGRUND shower reduces the water flow and saves water.
All IKEA showers come with water efficient shower heads and hand held showers.
The showers consume up to 30% less water and energy compared to a conventional shower that doesn’t have a flow regulator.

WASTE & RECYCLING
Using resources in a smart way
Recycling and preventing waste is something everybody can do – from small homes to big businesses. Preventing waste is a simple way to save money by only using what we need. And when we recycle, materials like paper, plastic and metal can be used again to make new products, instead of taking new resources out of the Earth. Who knows what your next egg carton or juice bottle could become next! See more waste-sorting solutions
Preventing waste is something we can all do
We have lots of solutions to help with sorting and preventing waste.
RATIONELL recycling series lets you customize your recycling
Create your own recycling solution
Local recycling systems around the world can be very different, which is why we made a modular system that you can customise. Saving resources with rechargeable batteries
Making the switch to rechargeable batteries is a more sustainable alternative to disposable batteries. You’ll consume and throw away fewer batteries. With our new range of rechargeable batteries and battery chargers, it’s now more affordable and convenient than ever to use rechargeables at home.

Stay charged for longer
Our new rechargeable batteries can be charged up to 1500 times and are available in high and low energy capacities, so the most optimal battery can be chosen for a specific device. For example, a camera flash requires a lot of instant power, while a computer mouse consumes a lot less power for a longer period of time. Using the right battery means you don’t need to recharge them as often.

Making a healthy life an easy choice
What does being healthy mean to you? For us, it’s about making smart everyday choices that are good for both your body and the environment. It’s about taking the bike instead of the car in your daily commute and activities. It’s about a day at your desk that’s actually good for your body and energy levels. It’s about the joy of seeing the seeds you planted grow into a mini-garden - because, in the end, even the small changes make a big difference.

Salmon. Good and good for you
Seafood is part of our company’s Swedish heritage, sold and served at IKEA around the world every day.
Salmon makes for a delicious and nutritious meal. With just two or three servings a week you’ll meet your body’s need for omega-3 fatty acids while getting a good dose of antioxidants, protein, iodine and vitamins D, A and B12. So we’re giving this typical Scandinavian treat a modern twist, and introducing our pulled salmon sandwich. Combining hot-smoked ASC certified salmon with a spicy BBQ glaze, served in a sourdough bun with green leafy salad. Healthy and delicious.

Besides the omega-3 fatty acids and protein, salmon contains antioxidants, iodine and vitamins D, A and B12 - making it both delicious and nutritious.

Veggies with attitude, even the kids love
Our vegetable balls are made from vegetables only, high in nutrition, fibre and protein and their carbon footprint is 30 times less than that of meatballs. Tasty, healthy, better for the planet, and no need to remind the family to “eat their greens” anymore. “Finally, after testing different combinations, we were home! The ball is delicious and it looks really tasty too, when you cut it open you can see the ingredients. No ball looks like the other – they look homemade and fresh, have a rich taste, and we’re really happy about the outcome.” says Annika Dunnico, Project Developer, Project Leader at IKEA Food.
