Secure it

Secure it!

Working together to create a safe home

Accidents related to furniture tipping over are a safety issue that needs to be taken seriously. That’s why IKEA strongly recommends that its customers fix chests of drawers and wardrobes to the wall. Securing furniture to the wall is the best way to prevent accidents. You are only safe from items of furniture tipping over if they are properly fixed to the wall.

Safety in the home is IKEA’s top priority. That’s why IKEA has been promoting the global awareness campaign 'Secure It!' over the past few years. Tilt-protection restraints have also been delivered along with items for some years and fixing them to the wall is an integral part of assembly instructions.

If you no longer have the tilt-protection restraint that was originally sent with your furniture, please call the freephone number 0848 801 100 to get one for free, or click here to complete an online request form. Remember to state the code 326235 in your request.

Please also contact IKEA if you have any questions about assembly or are not able to secure your chest of drawers as per the assembly instructions.

How to prevent tilting accidents

• Secure it! Use the tilt-protection restraint provided with the product and the right hardware for your wall type.

• Never put a television or heavy objects on top of a chest of drawers or on furniture that is not intended to be used in such a way.

• Always put heavy objects in the bottom drawer.
