Use it (in another way)
Our step-by-step guides have lots of ideas that make it simple to repurpose old furniture and household items. Kids love to know where things come from, especially food. Help them to explore how food grows when you transform a muffin tray into a kid-size planting garden. Time to get busy!
1. Get planting
First they need to choose what they want to grow. Maybe it’s carrots for that perfect carrot cake muffin? They could sprout carrot tops, or start with seeds for the full experience. Plant them in some soil and give them water.
2. Keep watering
If you’re starting with seeds, you’ll see green shoots within four or five days. With carrot heads, wait a couple of weeks for them to root themselves. Remember to keep watering them daily as plants quickly dry out in warm houses.
3. Find sunshine
Select a good sunny spot in your home for your indoor garden. Plants need two things – sunlight and water. It’s also good to consider placing them within reach of young gardeners, on a low movable trolley is perfect, allowing them to reposition their plants as the weather changes.
