Our step-by-step guides make it simple to repurpose or upgrade old furniture and household objects. Old window blinds? That canvas material could be the starting point for your next creative project. Time to find your paintbrush.
You’ll need a wooden picture frame, a pair of scissors and a staple gun. Lay them out on a clean, flat surface with your roll of blind canvas.
Unroll the blind and lay it flat on the floor. Place the frame over it and then use the scissors to cut the canvas, leaving a generous border.
Beginning halfway up one side, fold the canvas over the frame and staple it into position. Do this on all four sides, keeping the canvas taut.
Choose a corner and fold the canvas in diagonals, just like wrapping a present. Staple the folded canvas. Make sure there is no loose material.
Repeat this process on the other three corners. Always do opposite corners together, rather than working around the frame in sequence.
When your canvas is taut and even, you’re all set. Get out your paints and begin. Remember not to lay the canvas on sharp or uneven surfaces.
