Product details

The fabric dims daylight entering the room and reduces glare. It gives a comfortable sense of privacy as people cannot see in. At night, silhouettes can be perceived from outside when the room is lit.

The dark specks in unbleached cotton fabric are seeds or parts of seeds. This natural trait adds a rustic character and makes each curtain unique.

Cotton is a soft, durable and easy-care natural material that you can machine wash.

Suitable for combining with room darkening/block-out curtains or blinds when you want to limit or block out light entering the room entirely.

Choose from different lengths, widths and colours to adapt to different window sizes and to create a coordinated look throughout your home.

Using gliders and hooks usually creates a more formal and dressed-up feel, where hardware is not visible.

The 250 cm length is ideal if you want to hang the curtain above the window for a casual look.

Heading tape curtains with tie-backs allow you to hang the curtain directly on the rod or to hinge the curtain to the rail using gliders and hooks. The matching tiebacks enhance the fulness of the fabric.

Good to know

Curtain, 1 pair included.

Since the fabric will shrink when washing it is a good idea to wash the curtains prior to cutting/hemming.

You can use SY iron-on hemming strip to shorten the curtains without sewing.

This curtain is made with left-over fabric from textile manufacturing. Slight variations in colour may occur since the feedstock is colour-sorted and no additional dyes are used in the process.

15 gliders and hooks are usually recommended for each curtain with a width of 140 cm. You can increase or decrease the number depending on whether you want narrower or fuller folds in the pleats.

Accessories for LENDA

Bright room with LENDA light pink curtains, armchair, lamp, side table, and plant on windowsill.

From leftovers to curtains

LENDA curtains have been part of our range for around 20 years, much appreciated for the soft atmosphere they bring to the room and the gentle way light filters through their cotton fabric. Now, there are even more reasons to like them – starting with the new light pink version.

”It’s not something you’d notice when hanging your curtains, but together with our supplier, we’ve managed to create a fabric made from 50% leftover cotton from the textile industry,” says an enthusiastic Karin Svensson, one of our textile engineers.

Leftovers are spun into new yarn

In almost all textile production, leftover yarn and fabric scraps are common. For a long time, they’ve often been discarded because they weren’t seen as the resource they really are. “We know cotton production uses a lot of water and chemicals. So, when leftover textiles get thrown away, it’s a huge waste of resources,” Karin says. Just like we did, our supplier saw the value in saving those scraps and developed a method where textiles are shredded into fibres that can be spun into new yarn. A certain amount of unbleached cotton fibres must be added to achieve the right yarn strength. “To get this light pink tone for LENDA, the supplier used textile leftovers in selected colours. But because the raw materials are different, the colour can shift slightly as a nice reminder of where the fabric comes from.”

Recycling starts with the right choices

The LENDA project is an important step toward our goal of using only renewable or recycled materials in our products. Now, we're working on introducing recycled fabric in more colours. Through her work, Karin has seen just how complex the traditional textile industry can be. “Different materials and colors are often mixed, which makes recycling difficult. With LENDA, we've learned that we have to think about sustainability right from the start – and find creative solutions with whatever conditions we're working with."

Function solution

The fabric dims the daylight

The fabric dims the daylight entering the room when it is brighter outside, and reduces glare. It gives you a comfortable sense of privacy because people cannot see in during the daytime. At night, when the room is lit, it is possible to perceive shapes and silhouettes from outside.
