Home visit: take the party outside

04 August 2017

You’ve planned an indoor party and suddenly the sun comes out – so take your living room outside! Textiles and small pieces of furniture are great for making your outdoor space feel more cosy, and they’re easy to bring in at the end of the night. See how stylist Katie does it.

Take colour outside

‘Colour-blocking is a really effective way to make your outdoor space look like a room, and textiles are the easiest way to do that,’ says Katie. Even if the sun comes out mid-party, everyone can just grab a cushion each and head outside. Her KUNGSHOLMEN stool and chair can be left outside all year round, and the small tray table and lanterns are light enough to carry outside just for the evening. ‘We use our terrace as an extension of our living room whenever the weather is good,’ says Katie. ‘We can just throw the sliding doors open and invite twice the number of people!’

We love to see our customers get creative with our products. Go for it! But please note that altering or modifying IKEA products so they can no longer be re-sold or used for their original purpose, means the IKEA commercial guarantees and your right to return the products will be lost.
